The UKIP MP Douglas Carswell has been confronted in the street by anti-austerity protesters near Westminster.Mr Carswell was verbally abused in the confrontation and had to be escorted by officers to a police van and driven away. The MP was stopped by demonstrators at St James Park tube station, who chanted abuse at him and an assistant.

Hate UKIP, but spouting abuse at people is no way to protest for change.

Poor guy.

They're complaining about getting this government, which would be fixed if we had electoral reform. Carswell is a supporter of electoral reform. UKIP is one of the most popular parties that wants electoral reform. None of this made any sense. This was incredibly stupid to call a campaigner for electoral reform a 'fascist'.

That's too complex for lefties to understand. They want something or someone to take their unjustified anger out on and unfortunately UKIP is an easy target.

So they're against austerity.....but target an MP who has no influence on the actual governments policy, instead of any Conservative MP? Okay then.

I'm still mystified how all of these people can use the electoral system as a basis to complain about the government - when they gave you the opportunity to change it the majority of people didn't care enough to vote and the overwhelming majority of those who did vote were in leaving it the way it is

They don't vote because they know it won't count for anything.

Look at the results for the last election http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...,_2010#Results

Or most realised that they wanted a centralist government and get it either way.

Excuse me? Did you do a survey of the 15 000 000 non-voters in which the majority said the reason they don't vote is because of the system?

You don't see it anywhere near as much as you do with the left (in the UK at least).

Can you provide evidence for that being the case.

Are you really asking for evidence that the media post disproportionately more stories about UKIP than other parties/groups? Did you also want me to find proof that the sky is blue?

No, I want evidence of what you're implying, which is that the right do this sort of thing to a similar or greater degree.
