Why are grade boundaries for AQA biology A Level so low?

I'm in the second college year and practising Biol5 past papers during half term. On every paper, I've got maybe 70/100 marks and on some papers that's scaled up to 100% UMS!!! Don't get me wrong, I study hard but some questions in biology are just wishy washy nothingness that could be interpreted countless different ways so I inevitably drop considerable marks from HSW questions. I just wonder if the UMS conversion tool on the AQA website is accurate before I get confident that I can get a decent grade in the final exams?

It is accurate, most people revise biology for their biology exams so they do badly. That is why the UMS scale is so generous.

even if you really study for it there are a lot of things in the markschemes that the average person simply wouldn't write down
