omg, i just read that- i am so suprised this hasn't been in the press more- what kind of world do we live in where effectively parents pay for their child to go to a prison?

Shocked and appauled that something like that can be ran in the year 2003.

Thanks to The Guardian however to bringing it to our attention.

Maybe some of the rich Yankey parents should be told that many of the so called reasons for sending their kids there are some of the characteristics of PUBERTY, mood swings for one. The emotional effects of divorce on any teenager are also likely to be quite profound, especially whilst the period of arguing between parents goes off, and the teenager tries to establish blame for the break up of a marriage, and non-continuity of "normal" parenthood.

There is no just cause for sending what are still children away for up to 3 years at a time, because the parents haven't drilled basic values into them from a young age.
