my mom is very overbearing on my younger brother

i am 25, and i have a younger brother aged 14 who wears briefs, as i am his older sister he turns to me, he has recently said he does not like wearing briefs he wants to wear boxers but he has to wear briefs because my mother refuses to allow him to wear boxers, he said when he plays football at the weekend most of boys are wearing boxers,i think that mom is being very unreasonable in not allowing him a choice he is a child but he is 14 he should be free to start making his own choices it is not healthy , i have even confronted mom about this because he is too scarred too, but she wont listen and says while he is a minor he is wearing what i say briefs, i don't want to sound like i am being obsessive about this but does anyone think that mom is being too forceful?

Just explain to her the situation, as long as you don't get angry too then you remain in the right.

Could you not just buy them for him? Or would that just make the situation worse?

I was in the same boat as a 13 year old boy when my mom made me wear briefs all the time.. The other boys used to tease me and pull my pants, i think i would keep out of it and let mom do what she wants
