Medical school requirements cambridge

I got 8 A*s and 4 As at GCSE. If I do well in AS exams, and other admissions tests etc. do I stand at least chance at getting into cambridge? I've been told that 9 A*s is the minimum, however could good grades at A level compensate for slightly worse GCSE grades? Thanks.

Those grades are excellent, you definitely don't need 9A* at all.

Cambridge aren't bothered about your gcse grades - which are great btw

They care a lot - like a hell of a lot more about AS results and BMAT scores

Definitely fine. People with 7A* or less get offers from cambridge every year. Just work in your AS exams now and BMAT score.

Cambridge are more interested in AS UMS than GCSEs, though yours are perfectly adequate. I think the average offer-holder had 6 or 7 A*s in recent years.
