marketing job scam beware !!!!-- door to door

Scroll to see replies

I remember when I applied for a job with one of these (as mentioned earlier) in my naive youth.

They replied 'Dear Glasgow', now I don't know about you but how many people do you know called Glasgow? I lived in Glasgow but how stupid are they to a) write the email referencing myself as a city or b) doing it accidently through MS Office and yet failing to spot their mistake.

Unprofessional con artists.

Also, beware recruitment agencies that advertise these jobs too, under the guise of 'marketing manager', or 'marketing executive', 'sales executive' or some other guff when it's all the same anyway. The recruitment agency phoned me up and gave me some spiel about the company 'Chiron Marketing' who 'market' for blue chip companies across various platforms. Really pushing.

Needless to say, a quick internet search shows that they are duffers who only pay commission for standing on street corners pushing grannies to sign up to nonsense.
Exactly what happened to me. Hated the manager and IXL never paid me for the sales I did. They put in immense stress and I got emotional a few times and Sham always made fun of me after that time. The worst experience ever. It was one of my first jobs and I literally turned 18 at that time. I was really naive but this place taught me some things in the end.
It's funny that I'm seeing this trend. I was with that company for 2 years and I know everything about it. It is so unprofessional and a waste of my life . Any question that ask me
The mangers are sleeping with a lot of the entry levels and leaders. So unprofessional.

Yes they won't. They are unprofessional they're objective is to get as many people at the interview as possible. They won't care if you don't turn up. When I left they never sent me a p45 which is unprofessional
This company is a waste of time and effort. Although the job sounds good.
It's not I started part time which turned into full time they make you March the streets from around 12pm-8pm.

You start with a brief around 2/3 hours long then start your day.

No full forms no money - 100% commission

They'll hire anyone litterally this is not a job.

They're a bunch of hot heads who think they're in wolf of Wall Street
I've just had a call for an interview with them tomorrow. Which role did you apply for?
They have changed the company's name from the ixl company to ixl group - thinking people won't realise lol
Do not ever accept a job which is 100% commission based only. This kind of practice should be made illegal.

Just a note, Pantheon is another company to be aware of.

I applied for sales assistant job for the company Pantheon because they did not require any experience and full training was given. I received a reply the next day offering me and interview. I was surprised since all my applications have been unsuccessful in these 2-3 months. On the night before interview, I researched about the company and reviews and found that they hire people to do door to door sales and send them as far around the city centre until late night. There are no fixed hours and pay is crap. I'd be better off with a minimum wage job.
I want everyone to be aware that companys like this change their names regularly. They recently changed their name to the ixl group. Dont apply for ixl group its all a scarm

I've interview in another company like that. It's called IBA global. I want to warn everybody that's it's a company opened in May 2017 and does door to door sales, 100% commission based, and you only get paid when the person buys a subscription from you and won't cancel it within the next 2 months. If they cancel, no pay. It all sounds like a scam. Also what if somebody, like the provider of the product, calls them and makes them cancel in order to offer them a better, cheaper, direct deal? I can see how all of those buyers will be made to cancel, so that the door knockers make zero. The 2 months non-cancellation requirement also might mean that you're expecting to get paid 2 months from selling. So for 2 months, you're selling without getting a penny, and then you hear all of them cancelled, and you quit. The above is only my hypothesis, and I hypothesize no member of the door to door salesforce gets paid.I came for the 2nd interview at a wrong time and saw many brand new marks to be conned, as they were attending their 1st round interview. (Normally, nobody sees this. Due to coming at a wrong time, I've seen the full office of new people for their 1st round). It's all a fake interview, they hire everyone and in my opinion they pay zero, they pay noone, and they cannot be sued because the contract says you're self-employed and therefore everything is your fault, IBA global says you only get a GBP 50 commission from every subscription when the buyer won't cancel in the next 2 months. I am genuienly concerned there is a systemic solution to make all of the buyers cancel, and to offer them a better direct deal, or something like that. It's just a way to get an entire salesforce working as a free labour, paying them nothing, making them wait for 2 months, then telling them the bad news, meanwhile getting stuff sold and hiring new marks.Scam machine. The progress into having your own office is real if you want to copy IBA global, like a copy
I just fell for the same scam!! I even had a phone call and booked an interview slot. Luckily I googled them and this appeared in my google search, I then looked more into their website and you were right!

Was it with IXL?, I had a similar experience with this company a few years ago.
Yep IXL group based in Canary Wharf, they advertised the job as "sales assistant" so I assumed it was a recruitment retail agency in Canary Wharf.
