How specialist to one thing p.s?

I want to apply university to do chemical engineering, but if I apply to cambridge, i would do natural sciences in the first year. What do I put in my personal statement as my first choice would be cambridge, would it matter if my ps was all about chem eng? Didnt want 2 make it too specialist and then blow chances on cam, but if i make it too vague, this would affect applying to others. Advice anyone?

i'd steer it towards cambridge, noone does chem eng (or any type of engineering really) so its doubtful you'll get rejected from your other unis, most are just happy to be filling some places and getting some money.

Seeing as you will get interviewed for cambridge, i would suggest making your PS about chemical engineering, because the other universities will have to make a decision according to your PS.

true about the interviewing, so they wouldnt be put off if I applied for nat sci and then had a ps about chem eng?

Remember you get a second little form for Cambridge that you can add stuff too. You could talk about Nat Sci in there, although I don't think it's too bad an idea to show that you want to specialise in chem eng, as long as you're interested in the other sciency stuff you'll be doing.

Either I read it in the prospectus or on here.

I'll have a search around for it, but basically you have to fill in more stuff if you're applying to Cambridge.

Some of the details are in there about the CAF (second form).
Oh and some people say not to fill in the "extra information" box, some say do. It's up to you. (Personally I'm going to fill it in as the course I'm applying for is a bit different from most of the others.) I'm sure I've seen some threads on this somehwere around
