Unless it's changed since last year, "brunch" is on a Saturday, we do get Sunday lunch.
But brunch is my favourite meal too.

It might not have changed. I have probably just forgotten entirely the living in timetable, it seems so long ago.

Can't wait for next year

Yup we eat twice a week :p:.

Though I'm fairly sure we don't all receive exactly what we spend yearly back...

LOL - We eat together like Harry Potter people! Tell me, where do we go that's big enough to fit around 200-300+ twice a week?

btw tehjonny - If Freshers week is in Sept but your course starts in October, does the Uni give you accomodation so you can be there for freshers week or do you get your accomodation nearer to when your course starts?

College food might be **** but it beats paying 6000 pounds a year for nice food.

Yes, accomodation is provided at the start of Freshers week, which is usually 7-10 days before your course begins. Regardless, doesn't really matter when your course starts because your fees pay for accomodation from late september.

Doing Applied Psychology, and although I don't have much in way of comparison, I would say the teaching is of a very high standard. We've some very eminent names lecturing us , and I seldom fail to understand something because of poor teaching :p:.

No, not attended any. Really depends on your specialisation in the third year. In terms of employment you've got great opportunities in the fields of research, business consultancy, clinical psychology (if you're prepared to do a masters and possibly P.hd) and of course education. Hey, you could go the whole hog and become a psychiatrist .

Having spent 3 years at Durham I would say it was possibly the worst experience of my life. The students it attracts are mostly public school types and are people who all know each other before Uni starts. Everything is expensive and there is a real drinking culture there. The halls are ridiculously overpriced and the food and type of accommodation is poor. I would definitely not send my children there even if I did get a 2:1t's a damp, cold place devoid of soul with poor teaching staff. The societies are boring and prohibitive especially the Christian Union, OTC and rowing clubs. Stay away and go to a fun city University like London Uni or somewhere less cold 👍

The thing is is that the things that are really annoying about Durham are the best things about it!!! For example....

The hills ----> Good exercise :p:

The cost ----> In my opinion I get good damn value. I know people complain, but if anyone's read my posts about college life, then you know I LOVE college and after seeing accomodation at other Universities (whether catered or not) I know I have some of the best!! It's awesome. Plus it's in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Fact

The locals ----> Get a bit of culture into you! Not everyone in England are southern fairies....although some of the Durhamers will beat you up, many will teach you how to hold a door open for someone else, how to say please and thank you, if you're driving a car they'll teach you how to be a courteous driver and let people out, us Northerners are notoriously friendly. And yeah you'll get some idiots, but the majority of people in Durham (whether it be cleaners, porters, kitchen staff, shop workers, etc.) are awesome!

You can't have a car ----> Boo bloody hoo! Durham is TEEEEENY you don't need a car, learn to walk and lose some weight you fatty.

It's "cold" ----> Yeah it might get cold, but it gets a lot less rain than much of the country. I'd rather be cold than wet! Plus Durham is gorgeous in the snow, as everyone will tell you

Erm, can't think of much more lol. Yeah there are bad things about Durham, but if you're going to be negative you can find bad things about everywhere! If you be positive about these things you'll realise that they're not all that bad

1. 'Southern Fairies'? Cliché [ˈkliːʃeɪ] NOUN a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought.
2. Two 'M's in 'accommodation
3. There is significant rainfall throughout the year in Durham. Even the driest month still has a lot of rainfall. According to Köppen and Geiger, this climate is classified as Cfb. In Durham, the average annual temperature is 8.8 °C | 47.9 °F. The annual rainfall is 641 mm | 25.2 inch.
4. Friendly Northerners? Knife crime statistics in the north east suggest otherwise. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/knife-crime-north-east-rising-15791221
5. By classifying people by occupation, are you suggesting that there is some kind of 'class divide' on good manners or are you simply 'looking down' upon manual workers? Be careful, judging by your comments so far, your education isn't paying off and you may be joining them! "Good morning, welcome to McDonald's!"
