Best fashion retailer to work for?

I'm looking into having a career in fashion retail what ones would people say are the best In terms of pay/benefits, progression,work/life balance

Pay is probably best in the highest end shop you can find.

Progression (and likely more hours) is probably best in a large chain like Next.

Wonder what the wage is like for people working in standalone shops such as a Versace or Tom Ford shop as opposed to Topman or River Island...
