im 19 now and i have been in good relationships before i came to uni this year. Except for my last one as my ex cheated on me .i have been told i have really good personality by people that really know me. however i came to london and i be honest, i haven't been lucky with the ladies. i have been myself like always but i have been unsuccessful. i come to the conclusion that i am not good-looking and just probably average. i am kind of giving up on looking for a girl to have a relationship with, i am starting to feel that i should stay single. at the end of the day i just do not want to get upset about it, but i am starting to get a little depressed.

i say maybe yyou might be aiming to high when you look for girls or maybe all the girls your trying to get all have mans or they are just not ready for a male in their life...iu hoped that helped

Don't worry  And don't go "looking for a girl to have a relationship with". Looks aren't really that important. People radiate a different kind of beauty (if that makes sense).

Looks actually do matter, alot. Personality is a supplement, and a necessity, but only during the later stages of a relationship. You're having problems with the beginning.

Your new profile pic is much better, imho! Makes you look much less posey

And you seem a nice individual, if a little vain, and people will warm to you for that. And what's a bit of vain-ness? Everyone's a little vain.

Well, I'm certainly not optimistic, but I don't follow the general concepts a pessimist would.

I am more of an existentialist, and I follow the philosophical belief that everything is more likely to fail than succeed.

Does that mean you don't really aim high? That you're not ambitious as you fear the prospect of failure?

No, It doesn't effect anything but the result of something I or anyone else does. If you carry that belief if something fails you'll accept it as fact rather than kicking yourself.

It's not negative in the least. If you believe everything you do will turn out great and dandy, and it doesn't, you'll be sad. That's negative.

Ah right - I see. That's a good train of thought :yy:

I'll try to think that way, but I probably won't be able to

Philosophy and psychology are a big part of my life and I've read many many books on them. I haven't studied it as an academic subject, because you don't appreciate what it actually means then. You'll do it for the sake of doing it.

I'm very interested in knowing more about myself. I believe that no-one really knows who they are or what they are truly like.

Like Oscar Wilde once said:

'Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.'

And

'Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.'
