Lucky you with your 39 week let :colonhash:

Is it OK if I upload the photos onto the TSR wiki (in the very unlikely event that tinypic shuts down)?

Haha I know, it's brilliant.

Sure thing

I've run out of room on the second post. I can't put your review up until I get a third one (which hopefully should only take a bit if a mod is online).

realistically what are the chances of getting either Arthur Vick or Jack Martin with the number of people that are going to apply to those halls?

I'd say somewhere between 30% to 50% if you don't have medical conditions.

You must put it first choice to have any chance though.

To add to TheTallOne's comment, if in the "about me" section you say you're really quiet, go to bed really early, study hard etc., you will probably double your chances (for AV, that is). It's slightly harder to fiddle the system to get into JM because there's less of a stereotype surrounding JM.

i was thinking about doing this but then i want to make good friends with people in my flat that i can go party with and stuff. beacuse i was told that most people go out with there flat mates for the first couple of weeks. and i dont want to be a loner. what do you think?

but i want AV OR JM lol

Well, taking into account the trick I posted above, it's arguably easier to get into AV than JM. However, if you do make out you're unsociable, you may get put with people "like you", which is the risk you have to take. Obviously AV is never going to be the most outgoing block there is, but there are some awesome corridors in there. The thing about freshers' etc. is that yes, people generally go out with people in their corridor because they don't know anyone else yet, however there is nothing stopping you making friends yourself during the first night(s), and they can be from any block at all. You'll only be a loner if you don't make an effort to socialise
From what I remember, they don't actually look at the 'About me' section when allocating blocks. That's a random lottery. Only the wardens/subwardens look at it when deciding who goes in which corridor/flat.

Ah, this might be true. This is what I keep forgetting :p:. I swear it wasn't like this two years ago

That's true. I think the radio buttons about quiet/lively and single sex/mixed do affect halls allocation though.

would you say that most people in AV are not ever sociable. i was think about writing this in the about me section

I am quiet and studious guy, hence I would like to live with students who are not very noisy. I am also organised and, clean thus it would be preferable to live with people who do not like mess. I enjoy playing sports, and going out with friends. Finally I am a friendly guy who likes to meet new people!

what do you think it got a bit of a mix to it.

Taking into account the probability that the about me section will only choose your corridor within your accommodation block, I reckon what you've got there should put you in a nice, sociable (but not overly loud) corridor wherever you end up

Hi,

Trying to figure out which accomodation to go for..I'm generally sometone who dislikes a lot of noise when learning but have no problem with noise most of the time. I like to be with fun loving people and hang out with friends but sometimes just want a bit of me time. Also wouldn't want to share a bathroom or kitchen with too many people...I'm going to be doing law

Any suggestions ..

Claycroft. Unless you like to work in the library in which case you could probably pick any of them and be fine. If you want me time all you have to do is lock your door

Now I'm back!

 thanks for this...+rep!! This is like the first Claycroft review I've seen. Just wanted to ask what were the kinds of things you put in the 'about me' section? I really want 2 get this accommodation :yep:

No worries!

The 'About Me' doesn't dictate what accommodation you get. That's done randomly through the computer system just based on the checkboxes/dropdown lists. The 'About Me' is used for putting flats together so just be honest about what you're like and what dynamic you want to live in

I think I just put something along the lines of wanting to live somewhere with a good balance between work and fun and sleep, haha.

No. The about me section isn't used to decide whether you get ensuite or not, so there's little point. Even if it was, you would be best to say "I am quite a private person" rather than "I want ensuite". Just talk about yourself, whether you go out lots, perhaps when you sleep and how much you sleep, friends, maybe even interests. Just no pleading
