Guys, just a small tip, hope that helps!
There are several videos on YouTube showing rooms in different accommodation..

Could you pass on a link? I cant find nething on youtube.
why are we forced to choose only one 30 week accomodation. Is it some kind of con? XD I don't plan on staying in the holidays so this is just a waste of money, not to mention they're all expensiv as it is. And why do most of the rooms hve to be shared. For all I know I'll get someone whose only interest is getting drunk and getting on my nerves. I hope I don't snore...

You can pick two 30 week lets - Cryfield + one of JM or AV. You can also pick Whitefields which is a 37 week let, so that saves a bit of money too.

Almost all the rooms are singles, not shared.

Still seems a bit strange that you can't pick what you want. Though I suppose they're given to 2nd years. Out of the options I can do, only 3 or 4 were singles. Two of those are really expensive so I can't pick them. That leaves two. The rest are shared. If I firmed warwick I wouldn't be so concerned. But because it's my insurance, I'm likely going to get the bottom of the barrel. It's fair enough, no point depriving those who firmed warwick, it's just disappointing.

In the second year, unless you have an exceptional reason, you will be forced to live off campus.

If you're worried about the price it is going to cost you, check out the Prices and Sharing section of the guide at the start of this thread where accommodation is listed in order of yearly price (in addition to the sharing arrangements). Many of the 39 week halls turn out to be cheaper than Jack Martin and Arthur Vick, the 30 week en suites.

In addition, there are only 24 shared rooms on campus (disregarding Westwood temporary sharing).

Really? 6 out of 10 of the options were shared with the other 4 as en suite. Unless it means shared bathrooms.

Yeah, it means shared bathrooms, don't worry, you're very unlikely to have to share a bedroom!

Oh, well that's fine. I don't care about that. Though I regret writing a really negative self description now XD. Ah well.

I basically described myself as a grumpy old man who doesn't like loud music, prefers to be left alone, and does not participate in any sport whatsoever. I also said I have no hobbies and only read.

:yep: I APPROVE!!!!!!LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.......if it's any consolation,i don't like loud music either and prefers to be left alone when i'm crazy moody.hahahahha.

HEY GUYS,I'VE A FEW MORE QUESTIONS:
1.does tocil or whitefields have thinner walls?

2.are there any problems with kitchen/fridge/toilet sharing in whitefields?
(i understand there to be no such problem with tocil)

3.which of these two halls have bigger rooms?

This makes me happy a bit.

whitefields

said i'd prefer an in between sort of corridor, want to go out a few times a week but also stay in and have a quiet night. Didn't want to get stuck with people obsessed with being drunk constantly..but also didn't want to be in a ghost corridor!

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but in a flat such as in Claycroft where a bathroom is shared between 2 people, do members of opposites sexes share, or is the bathroom shared between single sexes only?

In Claycroft (available to final year undergraduates and postgraduates only in 2010/11) you share a bathroom directly with one other person. The other person would be of the same sex.

In other flats [ie Whitefields or Tocil] it is up to you to assign 'this is for guys and this is for girls' sometimes the flat could be divided into halves, sometimes not. The actual number of bathrooms can also vary (eg if you get 2/3 or even just one). If you are in a single sex flat then obviously there isn't an issue.

Don't know much about Whitefields, on the Warwick Accommodation website (or in Facilities Summary in the links section on the front of this thread) the typical room size of Whitefields is larger than Tocil. I haven't personally measured wall thickness either :p:

Fridge sharing should be OK in Whitefields - 12 people to a kitchen, the large white fridges fit 12 plus space at the bottom and same for the freezers. Kitchen is a bit on the small side but on the other hand you have a lounge to eat your food. Total communal space is comparable to JM/Cryfield kitchens I have seen, except the space for food preparation is less in Whitefields (whereas in the large kitchen, no lounge areas you have plenty of space to prepare food).

Thinking about it more, who cooks properly at uni? (other than me) :p: The issue of kitchen space is probably moot for most of you.

To be honest, opening your door and finding some random person passed out isn't so unlikely.. it does happen and if it's going to happen anywhere it will most likely be rootes.

personally i wouldn't mind, to be honest i made most of my friends through random drunk encounters. but if that's not up your street then i strongly recommend tocil. which is good that you put it there. i would sneak rootes into second choice if i were you. it's pretty cool and you meet a lot of people through living there.

hope that helps! ask if you have any questions.

does tocil have an integral launderette?it seems to indicate otherwise on the warwick website. and where do we do our laundry if we stay in whitefields?

Tocil has a launderette in the complex that is specifically for Tocil residents. It does require you to have to go outside though (unlike other places). It's about 1-2 minutes walk from the flats.

Whitefields uses Rootes launderette - again 1-2 minutes walk away from Whitefields. Other residents who should use that are Rootes, Benefactors and Jack Martin.

See this map for the exact location (it's in the insert in the bottom left).
