Thanks! Is the bus stop really only a 3 min walk from Liberty Park?

Not even that

How is liberty park? Is it nice? Spacious? Nice area?

I think it's a really nice place!
Although lol, the guy told us the bus stop was quite near, a bunch of us walked around and couldn't find it :s-smilie: maybe we were all being blind haha

I rang liberty park and told them all the stuff about Warwick, but apparently they are, in fact, actually full up now... :frown:

That sucks because I haven't even been told either way by Warwick yet  I emailed them and they just told me to wait a week or so, that was on Wednesday

That's really bad :frown: I rang them up on Friday really angry and they claimed that they had in fact sent me an email and that I should check my junk/spam. . . I didn't have any emails from them  The man on the phone said, I did have on campus accommodation and that they'd resend me the email. . . but the email said that I should look at Liberty park! Lol :s:

I've applied at Liberty park now, but it's 50/50 whether I'll get a room and a lot of students are in the same position because they were told really late that there was no on campus accommodation available for them due to an email problem.

 good luck
Looks like the intake of freshers this year have been rather high, or Warwick accommodation has been quite bad.

For those who can't get a room at liberty park, there's also a similar type of hall managed by the uni called union court in Leamington. It's en-suite. The downside is that it's pretty expensive.

Since firstyears are usually guaranteed uni accomodation, wouldn't Warwick put us there before referring us to Liberty Part etc. if there was room?

But they said in the email

It is now clear that due to the success of this year’s ‘A’ level candidates, Warwick will have a much higher new undergraduate intake than originally forecast and unfortunately we are not in a position to offer you campus accommodation for the 2010/11 academic year.

We have however contacted private providers, Liberty Living (Liberty Park) and Unite (Paradise Place), two of the fastest growing providers of student accommodation in the UK. They are able to offer you high quality accommodation in private student halls of residence off-campus.

The websites may state that the residences are ‘sold out’ however Warwick Accommodation has provided Liberty Park and Unite with your name and id number and they are aware that you will be contacting them.

If you haven't found out yet it's probably because of an email mess up, they did email a lot of students but some of the emails haven't been going through! You need to chase it up!!

No, I meant if there was room at the uni's own Union Court you'd think they'd put us there before directing us to Liberty Park etc. Yet they have directed us to Liberty Park etc., which suggests there is no room at Union Court.
Really annoyed with warwick accommodation atm...Liberty Park application is just more to think about and now there may not be any spaces left? REALLY don't want to to into private accommodation in my first year. bad job warwick

I completely agree, it's not their fault in a sense, they have too many students to accommodate, however I think they've handled this really badly, if they had contacted some students who were to be off campus quicker they would have more of a chance to find off campus accommodation. My friend is still waiting to hear from them. . .she thinks she'll most likely be off campus and if she is then it'll be hard finding somewhere to live!

At no point in this cycle have Warwick Accommodation stated that first years are guaranteed a place on campus, rather that you are given 'priority' over certain other groups. See the Principles of Allocation. If places fill up in late group 2 or early group 3, as it seems to have done this year, then Warwick Accommodation will attempt to find suitable off campus accommodation.

This situation of Liberty Park and other off campus accommodation has happened in the past 4 years, perhaps even before then. However in recent years there has been a serious overshoot in numbers, meaning more rooms in Westwood are being shared, an additional 13 rooms in Rootes are shared and even greater numbers of students will not have a place in Lib Park/on campus.

Any prospective students for 2011 would be glad to hear that an additional 505 places will be available on campus for next year due to the new accommodation being constructed at the moment.

That's really bad luck. If liberty park is full then I may actually consider taking a gap year because as it is their accommodation is going to cost over 4 grand. If I have to find private accommodation then it's going to cost even more because my friends all have placements and I won't have anyone to share the costs with.

With regards to the username:

Let's use:
abukxy

First two letters, ab denote the department:
Eg ps for Psychology, ma for Maths, etc.

u stands for undergraduate
k stands for the year (last year was j, the year before that was i)

The final two letters, xy, are random.

I should point out that you shouldn't post your ITS username/student uni number/room number for security reasons online.

Oh that makes sense now. I just got quite an unfortunate combination :frown: thanks again!

Do you have any idea when we'll get our personal lecture timetables? I'm not sure if I need module registration cos all my first year modules are compulsory :s-smilie: but the PLTT isn't on my.Warwick :frown:

Thanks again!

I don't have a timetable either. But you should get a timetable before the start of term

Ooh great, thank you!
Is it weird that I still haven't heard anything?
Is there still a chance that I'm at Liberty Park?
I've checked my emails, spam and junk folders and there's really nothing at all...and it's just a google mail account so I don't think there should have been any problems.
