ok so here its my questions

i got an offer from warwick and may most likely firm it. so i guess its time for me to decide which accommodation.

I am not a super-sociable people. However I do like to social (sounds strange but i think u guys will understand )

Basically what i am saying is that I like social and would like to make as many friends as I can. But at the same time, I need some private quiet time for my own study.
Mention all this on the section for the description of yourself. That way, you'll be put with suitable people.

I think I will cook quite a lot next year so I guess the status of kitchen is one of my consideration.
Westwood has really large kitchens, but with about 26 people to one kitchen. Other halls have smaller kitchens, but with about 4-6 people per kitchen. Generally, kitchens are cleaned but this means that therefore, the students don't do any cleaning themselves so they get messy very quickly.
Its better to be an en-suite but its not the end of the world if I cannot get one
I would generally agree with that.

Would rootes be too sociable for me?
The thing that's unique about Rootes is that there are many people to one building, so you can get to know lots of people at once. The downside is that if you're not careful, things can get stolen and fire alarms appear more frequently than in other halls.
and what is the big difference between AV and JM? They are both en-suite apparently...
They are pretty similar. There's some small differences in layout etc but nothing major.

And one final question, as I am an international student, I am wondering where do most of the international students tend to live in?

thanks guys

You would probably find a higher proportion of international students in halls which have the longer letting periods so that they don't have to move out during the holidays.

This depends on what sort of area you're in. Tocil as a whole doesn't really have a strong reputation for being much noisier or quieter than other halls.

thanks for the reply

some people described rootes as a party hall...does it mean that it is pretty much the most sociable hall (given that there are large number of people?)

one thing is that if I rent a 30-week accommodation and then when i go back home during holiday, where can I put all my stuff? Do they provide us some spaces or storage to put our things temporarily?

I am thinking about JM or AV...any other suggestion?:colondollar:

I live in Tocil this year and I haven't had any problems with noise. The flats are all seperated from each other by doors so noise from other flats doesn't travel, so it's just those that are in your flat that you hear noise from. If you say you're a quiet person in your application then they will certainly take that into consideration. (:

Yes. Another thing about Rootes is that because it has a reputation for being sociable then lots of outgoing people apply there hence it maintains its reputation.

I think there is either a lockable cupboard in the room or a room with shelves that everyone can put their possessions in. Basically, you can leave things behind as long as they're not huge.

Hmm... From what you said about your personality you could probably go pretty much anywhere.

I was in Westwood last year and it was good for being easily able to meet lots of people. However the kitchens could get messy very quickly and food was sometimes stolen. As for Rootes, you could probably say a similar sort of thing.

JM/AV have tended to be quite popular in the past so many people applying there have had to go to a choice lower down. I don't know whether this trend will continue with the new accommodation block.

If you want to get to know a lot of people then you would probably want to avoid Whitefields - this is made up of lots of small buildings and I've heard that people don't often see other people from outside their building.

So that leaves all the other halls to choose from. You could probably go pretty much anywhere - maybe look at price and location to help choose a good place.

I see, thanks a lot
so that means if i am very sociable then go to rootes, but if not very but okay sociable then probably AV or JM suits me more?

so it wont be a problem for international students like me to rent a 30-week accommodation? surely I will find some ways to store my things..

thanks

I share a kitchen with 12 people. But there are also flats of 9 and 6 so it really depends on where you are put which, as far as I know, is completely random. Although it may sound like a lot of people not everybody cooks at the same time so there's usually plenty of space, and we all have a cupboard each so there is adequate storage. Obviously it gets messy but that's the same whichever accommodation you choose and it gets cleaned 3x a week so it's never too much of a problem (:

In general, that would sum it up. Although you can still get mixtures of different personalities in all the halls.

As long as you don't bring excessive amounts of stuff, you should be fine.

thanks
Hey guys, which is the closest halls to the Law department and how long is the walk? I have trouble walking long distances.

I live in JM this year, and well, yes and no. Its a mix, probably evenly split. On my corridor there are most people from different backgrounds who arent international students, so like british indian.

But JM is still a great place to be, when you apply for accomodation you have to fill in a bio about yourself and they place you with like minded people, either quiet, or the opposite.

Law lectures and seminars are held in a variety of locations - humanities, social sciences, science concourse and the maths building. The closest halls to these places are Tocil and Whitefields. The length of the walk will depend on where you're going and what your walking speed is like, so probably your best bet is to look at the locations on a map and judge for yourself. http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/maps/interactive/

If you can get medical evidence about your difficulty then make sure you mention that on the form so you can be given a higher priority.

So in general would you recommend JM?
I dont mind if you are biased
But could you tell me a bit more about the downsides of JM, if any?

If I am doing management, where would most lectures and seminars be held?
