The only thing with Westwood is that it's corridors and 18 to 26!!! people per kitchen which is madness.

I lived in Westwood and it was great having so many people to a kitchen as you got to meet loads of new people. The kitchens are much larger to account for this but it did get very messy very quickly after the cleaner came. The advantage of the corridors system is that some people were able to easily get to know people on other floors without being locked out. However food did sometimes get stolen.

Good to know, thanks a lot!
Which are the best halls to live in if you want to have outgoing friends but also some free time for revision? I don't want to be stuck in every night, would like to go out 1-2 times a week, yet have my own space.
I would prefer en-suite but coming up with 5 options is going to be tough!

It's important to remember that halls are not the only place you will make friends to go out with. Not only will you meet people on your course to but its a good idea to join at least a few societies when you get to uni. Not only will you make a load of friends at these as you all have at least one thing in common, and they often have social events (all go out together) but also these days employers like to see you did more than just study, and being part of a number of societies is great for this - especially if in later years you become one of the exec on a society.

With all that in mind and that you want your own space id suggest Lakeside as your top choice. The people in the halls will be social but not to party mad, admittedly it depends wherever you go on the people you get put with but in general its rare to be put with people that dont want to go out ever, the rooms not only have ensuite but are very spacious. Also if I remember right from when I was on campus when applying you have to fill in a question thing about what kind of person you are and this is a key place to make it clear what you are like and so what kind of people you want to be with
hey guys, im still deciding whether to apply for Warwick Masters (doing undergrad atm). If I do, have I missed the masters deadline for accommodation application? It seems to be closed on the website...any help appreciated!

how come they told you not to bother with lakeside? lakeside is the one I actually lived in so thats the one I know the best really  so someone else who was in arthur vick will hopefully chip in some info *hint hint everyone out there* lol. From when I visited friends living there it was ok accommodation wise, i vaguely remember the kitchen/living room being bigger than the one at lakeside but I may be wrong. The impression that I got from others living there though was that it was less social than the majority of other halls. In my experience the en suites I found to be the most social were Lakeside and Heronbank but I guess it changes from year to year and on who you speak to  although i think sometimes heron bank dosnt always have first years but not sure. Personally though I Just think the extra price for Arthur Vick compared to Lakeside isnt really worth it as I dont see the added benefit

Lakeside is a 39 week let vs the 30 week let in AV. Even though AV is £130/week compared to LS at £120, you will still end up paying £780 more across the entire year. The question about price should actually be about paying £780 for 9 more weeks and if you would use it. I agree with AV being the least social hall on campus though :p: (Obviously there are quiet and loud areas everywhere, but in general you'd have to search longer for a louder area in AV, imo).

We've got 2 reviews for Arthur Vick and 1 review each for Heronbank and Lakeside at the start of the thread. Check them out for more opinion.

I'd personally say that JM will suit you quite well, better than (more sociable) AV. And it's location is better placed.

When do the application forms come online? It's mid-April now :s-smilie:
Also, if you're a first year undergraduate, do you have to pay the £250 deposit?

No.

Mathematics firmers need to pass STEP. The results are published mid august.

You take part of the first round for the accomodations if you firm Warwick and met their offer by 31 of july.

What is goint to happen are we going to be consider for accomodation with the insurances?

Don't know where you got the 31/7 figure from - A Level results aren't available until late August!

edit: To answer your question, as someone who firmed Maths at Warwick last year, I can tell you your accommodation application will be considered for with the same priority as all other freshers.

I hope they email us soon to apply!
I was just wondering, I'm planning on commuting for the first year but would I be allowed to apply for accomadation in my second year(since it's more lab based and longer hours that year)?
I was in Whitefields ten years ago and for me it was great - I'm still friends with most of the people that I lived with and we go away every year.

I agree that it feels more like a family than other halls - provided everyone gets on! I would recommend it, and it's definitely the best value accomodation. I dont remember ever really having difficulty in sharing the fridge/kitchen and there was a cleaner provided who came round daily to keep the place tidy - not sure if they still provide that though.

Warwick was awesome!

This is from the website
"Students entering their second year of a full time, first degree course, or the third year of a four year course are not eligible for campus accommodation and are expected to live off-campus. Warwick Accommodation manages around 1700 bed spaces off-campus and can assist students in arranging University managed off-campus accommodation. "

You can get accommodation in your second year (or third year of a four year course) if you have any medical problems such that living off campus will be a problem.

You need to apply for accommodation anyway. Check out Principles of Allocation - you will be placed in group 3 and will have the same chance as all other insurance entrants. Firms get priority over you for allocation on campus (but not necessarily for allocation into specific halls).

Sadly not. Personally, you live a much better uni experience on campus in the first year though and getting back home can be much easier after social events at night. Where do you currently live though??

Applications opened in mid May. Chillax :p:
