I think they have places where you can keep some things, but im not sure how much. Hopefully someone else can answer that for you.

In that case, its probably best not to opt for Lakeside, Claycroft would probably be a better option for you.

There's a load of stuff on here about how horrendously quiet AV is quiet is so I just want to clarify that its definetly not for anyone like me who's rather sociable because it does look the nicest accomodation. And how's JM compare? Is it really that much better, or once again that bit too quiet.

Which residence seems to be the most sociable behind roots while still having single rooms in halls? I need to decide what my third choice would be. It would be Westwood but I can't say i'd fancy a 15 minute walk to central campus multiple times a day, but I am considering bringing a bike along. (Yet another question, do many people bring cycle bikes, or is there no need?)

Yes AV can be horrendously quiet. If you want a 'bangin' social life don't put it down. JM is nice but seriously, don't waste your money on en suite its totally unnecessary.

All halls have single rooms apart from some benefactors or westwood if you get really unlucky

I wouldnt really go for westwood.... living 5 mins walk from everything is part of the warwick experience  not to say you wont have fun in westwood but I just wouldnt put it as a first/any choice. Quite a lot of people bring bikes but most people just walk everywhere.

You can't go wrong with rootes/whitefields etc...

You have to send an e-mail to the Warwick Accomodation people, and explain the situation. Possibly have another look onto the Accomodation site, and choose which ones would be more suitable for you, and include these in the e-mail. They shouldn't have a problem with it, hopefully! Good luck.

If you do end up in a 30 week let you can apply for additional on campus accomodation during the holidays, for all or part of it. It won't be your term time room but it will be a room in accomodation on campus. 30 week let accomodation has storage so you can leave things and international students get access to additional storage for the holidays. Plenty of international students live in 30 week let and seem to manage fine with the holidays and stuff.

if they dont allow that are there like no places i can stay just during the hols...by payin extra or something??? i mite go home sum holidays but not all...so il find a place 2 keep my stuff but dont they have rooms only for the holidays??? coz 4 the ensuite the only ones i liked were av n jm...claycroft i think is the only 1 where u have 2 share a toilet wid 1 other person n the only one which has 39 week let frm the ones i liked....so i dont really have very many more options...thanks 4 ur help tho...il still rite 2 them

1) Chyyre (sp?) asked a few pages back but didnt get an answer. If i apply now for my accomodation, do i have an advantage? i.e. Is it first come first serve?

2) What would you say the deadline for applying for accomodation on equal footing with all the other candidates, is?

3) To the guy that ended up at Westwood, despite not picking it at all (im just vaguely remembering this - think it was gzad) - when did you choose your original offers? Late-ish?

4) Sorry if its been mentioned before, but ive been thinking about bills. Stuff like electricity and gas and water and what not. Are these all inclusive in the weekly rent?

Thanks in advance :yy:

Nope not first come first serve, they don't even start allocating accomodation till late august/early september till they know whose actually coming to warwick. The only 'deadline' is the one they give (end of june or something? I dunno) But I wouldnt even worry too much about that.

Rent is all inclusive of electricity internet etc  You won't have to pay anything extra accomodation wise.

1) No its not first come first serve, the rooms are allocated after results day.

2) You need to apply by July 31st to be on equal footing I believe.

4) Yeh all that is included in the bills

Hope that helps

Can someone help with my Tocil vs. Cryfield decision for my third choice? I've put Arthur Vick as my first and Claycroft as my second. So far I've got:

Tocil

Pros:
Very near the Sports Center
Quite close to Arts Center
Quite close to Student Union
Rooms are bigger than cryfields
Good ratio of people to a bathroom and kitchen

Cons:
Rooms not cleaned (well i'm fairly tidy so it's not much of a big deal)
No washhand basin in the room
Doesn't offer 30 week let...don't really mind 39 week let though

Cryfield

Pros:

Close to SU
Close to Arts Center
Washbasin in room
Rooms are cleaned
Cheap
30 week lets

Cons:
Walls are really thin therefore can be quite noisy
Rooms are apparently the smallest out of all halls of residence (i need as much space as I can get!)

Since warwick is my insurance, it could be likely that i won't get my top choices for accomodation so I wanna make sure I get a halls of residence that I'd be happy with. :s-smilie:

just get your grades for LSE then it doesn't really matter! (i'm pulling my jealous face) lol. personally id prefer cryfield due to it being only 30 weeks, cheaper and closer to everything (although i guess this is negligible)
OK, my list @ t mo is
1.Rootes
2.Westwood
3.Cryfield
But i'm not sure...thing is I want a social life and will probs go out minimum every other night, but when i get bk I'll want to sleep, and being a fairly light sleeper, will want sumwhere quiet...also will want sumwhere i can work thats not too noisy.
Also, with Westwood, the walk doesn't really bother me as I live 15 minutes from everywhere @ home so am used to walking about that distance to get places, but I'm worried that people @ Westwood won't actually want to go out to the union in the evenings and things and i'm pretty sure i will. I don't want to end up stuck with a bunch of people who would rather kick around in a common room drinking than actually going out...
But Rootes worries me in that it is the 'party' accomodation, and while i love the idea that i can easily get to parties, i don't like the thought of trying to sleep with loud music coming through the floor...does it tend to quiet down at a particular time? If i ask to be put in a quieter part of rootes, will I end up being put in Old Rootes with apparently mouldy showers?

Neh, I put Westwood as my 1st (maybe regret a bit now :p: 2. Roots 3. Cryfield), so therefore it's pretty sure I will end up in Westwood, and I will be willing to go out (maybe not everynight, but close :p:), and I hope that there will at least some group of ppl to go out with . If it's really a 10-15 minute walk then I don't think this is such a big problem.

I am pretty much decided upon Westwood by default now..cause I don't want 39 week rent, definitely 30 week, but can't afford AV or JM...so basically, it seems I'm stuck with either Rootes or Westwood. And since I only want to go out a maximum twice a week and like to have peace and quiet most of the time I don't think Rootes is for me, though I do like occasional parties..So anyone know if I have any other option? If I put that I don't like to go out too much on my form and apply for Westwood will I probably be okay?
Argh this is a bit annoying cause I've pretty much got no choice.

Cool cHybronix, if i end up in westwood i will be hunting you down! Nah, but its cool to know that some people are applying there with intentions to go to the SU. Very reassuring, thnx...see not sure to make first choice over rootes on basis that will be quieter and less fire alarms when i actually do want to sleep...hmm
