yea it was all fine. no problems whatsoever with my room and none of my friends had problems that i know of, if they did they were sorted really quickly.
kitchens were ok, we had two on our floor. one was brand new and the other was pretty old, no problems with the new one, i was in the old one and our toaster was awful, but we complained and they gave us a new one, and the oven door didnt seal very well so you had to cook for longer or at a higher temp. this was 2 years ago now though so i would expect that kitchen has been refurbished by now, they were doing them when i was there and i think ours was one of the last to be done. other than that no problems whatsoever. I loved living in cryfield, i was so sad when i had to move out for good!
oh alright thanks for the heads up! seemed like you really enjoyed yourself there!
Hello everyone. An excellent guide on accommodation in Warwick.
I will be a grad student for 12/13 in Economics. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend on an open day and accommodation department wrote to me that they don't provide any sort of tours to flats.
Furthermore, if you choose off-campus they will only provide you with a short list of properties to choose from.
It would be nice is someone could clarify if you are given a choice of preferred campuses, i.e. Heronbank and Lakerside over others during the application?
If by any chance there was a Good Samaritan on TSR forums who could show me around for about an hour in Lakerside or Heronbank accommodations in the frame from 23rd to 29th of March, I would be greatly indebted to him/her.

On the form, you do specify which halls you would prefer, although there's no guarentee that you would get your first choice, because some halls are oversubscribed.
If you're unable to find someone who can show you round, another option is to just go to the halls, and wait for someone to go in/out so you can get through the door after them. No-one actually checks if you really are a student. However, this might be more difficult at this time of year because it's during the easter break so consequently there would be fewer people around.
Ahh I was hoping it wouldn't be as it wasn't ensuite and there's loads of rooms :/ guess I'll have to find some similar ones to put down. Thanks
Having said this, pretty much everyone I know who applied to Rootes got it as their first choice, as well as plenty who had it 2nd/3rd and got placed here. It's the biggest halls by far (almost 1000 people) so I would say you are more likely to get it. It's the en suite halls that are really oversubscribed.
Am I right in assuming that if I put Rootes as my first choice I am likely to get it? I really want to go there....
It depends. If, for example, you were to put an incredibly unpopular block down as your second choice (eg Westwood), I think you'd end up there instead.

ahh I just want to go to Rootes! Is it better to put oversubscribed ones as my 2nd and 3rd choices then?

Be careful. Say if then you don't get Rootes but into the oversubscribed ones? I'd play it safe and actually put somewhere you wouldn't mind ending up 2nd and 3rd

Thanks for your answer and advice! I think going around the campus like this is bordering between legal and illegal though.
I still don't lose hope that some kind undergrad/grad soul from any dept. would be able to spare me at least an hour of their valuable time and show around.
Does easter break start from 1st of April or earlier?

Easter holidays have already started, we go back in 5 weeks.
Hi! I received an offer from Warwick for law yesterday and have been looking at the accommadation. I really want an ensuite room and my parents are saying that I 'must' have a 39 week room as they do not want to bring my stuff back at the end of every term. So that leaves me with Lakeside and Bluebell. I am really worried about comments that there are a lot of international students in these places and fear that I could become 'shut off' from people. Is this what happens?! As I read that they aren't the most sociable halls.
Im not the type of person who wants to go clubbing every night but I also don't want to just sit in my room and be boring and have no friends! Haha

So can anyone give me any thoughts on this?
There really isn't anything wrong with sharing a bathroom. And secondly people in Lakeside and Bluebell do have friends.
