I assume you're the same Tom Crease that's on the Maths 2012-15/16 FB group! (The one asking whether Dave Wood was a second year? haha) I am the Joshua who was commenting on that post.. So yeah, I've got Westwood as a first choice.

First person on here who I've found on Facebook. Stalker status achieved.

I'm also looking to choose a 1st preference at westwood too; do you think theres no point in an adjustment holder applying for 30wk en-suites as I'm so far down allocation?

I'd say just put down where you'd be happy to go; so if you want to go for a 30 week en-suite, apply for one. Even if you're quite far down on allocation, there's no harm in putting down, as you never know.

is it worth applying to benefactors (33wk ensuite) if im going through adjustment + will apply for accomodation on monday?

thank you

I mean, it's up to you. If you don't put it down, you definitely won't get it. If you really want to live there then give it a chance - you might get lucky. But if you don't get it, don't be too disappointed. You'll grow to love wherever you live.

This may be my list...

benefactors
westwood
cryfields
whitefields
rootes
westwood shared

I truly doubt I stand a substantive chance of getting into benefactors.

This is my problem:

Is the chance of getting into benefactors > the opportunity cost of not putting westwood as a first preference which may give me a better chance of getting a on-campus single room as choosing benefactors will put westwood on 2nd, thereby perhaps making my application less strong as I will be applying based on 2nd preference which may be overriden by another's first preference.

if that makes sense.

I may do this instead:

westwood
cryfields
whitefields
benefactors - > pointless putting it here because it's hard enough even with 1st preference!???
rootes
westwood shared

Honestly, I don't know enough about the algorithm and how it applies for adjustment applicants to be able to answer you fully here.

It may be that it doesn't matter what you put as your options as to whether or not you get campus. But then it might matter. I don't know. Hopefully someone else on here will do and can help you out better.

All I can say is that if it were me in your shoes, I would put Benefactors first and then the rest as you have done and then just wait and see what comes out.

I don't view accommodation applications as strong or weak depending on the order of halls.
random, but lamps provided in rooms anyone? 8)

I was in AV last year and they definitely are there, I'm pretty sure there's a lamp in every room no matter what accommodation you have. You should get an E-Mail including an inventory of the room when you get closer to moving in.

Do you know how long it takes to go from registering for a warwick accomodation account and being sent an email of confirmation? Confirmation emails usually take like 2 seconds don't they?

I'm really sorry I'm so useless, but I can't remember how long it took - it was three years ago.

However, if you are at all worried when going through the process then just email or call Warwick accommodation and they will have the definitive answer for you

Think it took like an hour for me when I applied last month
Does anyone know how much storage space there is under the beds in Jack Martin and Westwood?

Thanks

It's a standard bed, so however much you can cram under a normal one at home  . There's no storage for holidays though, just for whatever you throw on the floor and want to kick out of the way

Thanks  Just needed to check that it wasn't a divan-y thing right to the floor 'cause that cuts out 20 sq ft of perfectly good pan and washing storage
I've just transferred course, does this literally put me at the bottom of the priority list? Warwick was my firm choice & I made my offer. Do I come after Insurance/Clearing students?
Anyone knows how strict are the rules that don't allow you to bring other people to sleep at your on-campus accommodation room?

There are no rules saying you can't sleep with someone else :p:

Technically, you are meant to ask your warden for permission if someone is staying with you for more than 3 nights, but in my experience they couldn't care less
