Hi,
Someone might've already asked about this but I've been offered a room in the older Rootes block and was wondering if it's true that the facilities are a lot worse than at new Rootes? Apparently the rooms are also a bit shabbier e.g. they're painted yellow and have thick red carpets. And is old Rootes generally as sociable/ fun as new Rootes sounds?


Old Rootes: built around 1970.
New Rootes: build a few years after that.

All Rootes blocks have been redone many times over - to a point where you can't really distinguish between them because Rootes A-C block had new kitchens put in last summer, while other blocks might have had the rooms repainted (or something).

You're not allowed mini fridges anywhere on campus unless you have a medical reason.

I'm a postgrad medical student looking to join Warwick in Jan. Our teaching hospitals are off campus and include Warwick medical school, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, and Warwick hospital. Where in Coventry or any convenient place (Leamington Spa) would you recommend i scout for accomodation? I don't have a car. So public transport needs to be easily accessible. Thanks.

Your flat numbers will appear on your contact details somewhere on my.warwick in the next week or so. It will definitely be released to you before you arrive however.

For accommodation I think that you have to pay with direct debit, 4 different times during the year (according to your contract, they could be less or more times I guess).
For the first payment, I think that the deadline is 25 October or something.

Accommodation can be paid in all the usual methods, minus cash (direct debit is usually the easiest).

All details regarding your methods of tuition fee payment and the deadline for said payment should have been confirmed when you enrolled. Log onto my.warwick to find out specifics.

An ethernet cable will be provided, but it's limited in length. I would heavily recommend buying a 10/15/20m one from Amazon so you can have your laptop anywhere in the room, rather than being limited to one corner of your desk.
