What should I put on the 'brief description of yourself' part of the application? I've worked out approximately what times I go to bed and get up (medium) but I have no idea whether to say quiet or lively, and I'm not sure what types of interests to write down. My interests are quite geeky/sciency but that doesn't mean I want to be with your stereotypical scientists! I'm also quite quiet myself but I am sociable and want to be around sociable people who go out and party, but not people who will be loud all night when I have things on the next morning!
I've just applied for my accommodation, think i completely over thought my personal description but o well. Is the a good chance of getting Rootes? its my first choice and the only one I want really ...
Okay, I've finished my application. I sounded so boring in my personal statement! This is what I wrote:

There isn't really a 'likelihood' as it's balloted based on some algorithm (don't ask how they do it exactly, I'm going to Warwick to do History and French) but I put it down too so we can only hope!

Yeah, I've just heard of quite a few people who put Arthur Vick and didn't get it, so I'm just nervous that I won't :/ and ah cool, we may end up together then
Since we can only have 1 30 week accommodation, I'm choosing jack Martin as my first choice and we are allowed another 2 ensuites but they have to be the 39 week ones, so if say I chose bluebell as second choice cause its closest to gibbet hill (although ill be broke) and sherbourne for my third ensuite Choice....would the walk from sherbourne to gibbit hill be a problem? How long would it take?

Any advice?
I'm hoping for Rootes or Westwood.
You sound like me too! I'm also torn between Rootes and Westwood, but I think I'll put Westwood as my first option.
Yeah it is I didn't get it. Instead went to Westwood which has actually been grand. But I was devastated when I found out and even tried to get into Arthurk Vick on medical grounds. Oh the lols that were had. Anyway it didn't matter in the end. No problems with Westwood and you can't say otherwise

OK, from what I've seen, all that description does is decide the distance you are placed from the potentially noisy areas of the floor, eg stairs or kitchen. As far as I can tell (admittedly I don't have proof) it doesn't seem to have any/much effect on whether you're put with people of similar hobbies or interests. So if you put something like 'I am generally quiet etc etc' you get a room right at the end of the corridor. If you put something like 'I'm usually sociable and like to go out etc etc', you'll get a room near the more noisy parts of the floor. So it kind of puts you with the same type of person, but I don't think they really take interests into account. Well thats my take on it anyway

When I applied, I ended up getting put near other people with similar interests as me, and also near someone else who does the same subject as me.
Also when allocating your accommodation do they take into account what you're studying and where most your lectures will be? Will they know I need to go to gibbit hill daily so locate me to a closer accommodation? Or do they not consider that stuff?

Oh no, I'm worried I won't get it now I'd be upset if I didn't, it seems the best place for me.

The halls that you're in would be determined automatically based on your preferences. The subject you're doing wouldn't factor into this so you would need to choose preferences for halls that are close to Gibbet Hill.

I think I'll just copy and paste yours since it is basically the same as me!!
Hi, I'm going to be doing maths, so I was wondering where I would have my lectures/which accommodation would be the closest?
Maths is fairly central so it doesn't really matter which accomodation you choose. Tbh, the only way it would matter if is you had to regularly use Gibbet Hill and you lived in Westwood or Sherbourne
What did everyone chose for their 'yes' , 'no' options, for the question are you willing to accept a single sex/mixed accommodation if your choice is not available? If I say no does it mean if there's not more mixed left then they will have to find me out of campus accommodation? And what has everyone written in the description of yourself section?
