You're correct :s-smilie: . That's some memory there! . Unsure whether it's changed though

I'd just like to say that "12 bed 13 person" is the most humorously awkward way they could have abbreviated that.

There's a copy of the floor plans in post 4 which shows the shared rooms

this is probably a really stupid question but how do I find post 4? Could you possibly send me a link to please?

Hi, I have been given a room in New Rootes and in the arrival instructions it says:

"Please do not bring electrical appliances requiring more than 500 watts as these may overload the system. No refrigerators, kettles or cooking equipment of any kind may be used in study bedrooms."

But my hairdryer is about 2000W, so I was wondering whether I can use it in my room? If not, where am I able to use it?

Hairdryers are fine, cooking appliances are banned as if everyone had a fridge/kettle that could be unsafe and overload the system.

Anyone here wants to rent a flat/house with me? I am a postgrad student at the business school.

Warwick failed to provide me with accommodation at all. They kept me waiting more than a month just to tell me this a week before I start. They could have at least told me to start looking for rooms as plan b. I heard this is not the first time they have this problem. What a piece of **** of university.
Are we allowed to dye our hair in the shared bathrooms?

There's no rule against it, as long as you're not staining the equipment (and people might not be happy if the chemicals have a really strong smell) - I'm not really sure what dyeing hair involves.

However, many halls do have a sink in the bedrooms so it may be more convenient to use that.

Anyone know how rootes is actually split up? On the campus map, there are two sections, it looks like there are more blocks on one side than the other. Are any of the new rootes blocks on the same side as the old rootes ones?

From what I remember from the open day, the block on the left is Old Rootes, the block on the right is New Rootes. I may be wrong though.

Hmm, that's what I think too, but i know old rootes is A-I and new rootes starts from J, and there seem to be more blocks on the left side so Idk, I was thinking maybe there are some new blocks there too? Waa, idk lol.
It says I am requested to move on 28th because of surname thing =P Can I get the keys etc on 28th but bring my stuff on 29th? I just don't feel its a good idea to move around on 28th with all my bags.

Hi everyone!

Just got a few questions that I would love some help with if anyone can offer up answers/suggestions?

1. If my surname is due to arrive on the 29th but due to family stuff it is easier for me to arrive on the 28th, does this really pose any sort of problem?
2. What's the difference between the Rootes blocks that are allocated? I have been given A-I for instance?
3. I know that furniture is not meant to be bought into the rooms and I get that there actually probably isn't tons of space for much else, but I do have a burning question about what to do with books? I have a small bookcase at home (literally, not very big at all) and I do love reading etc, any ideas on how I could store them other than storage boxes somewhere?

Thank you!

It doesn't matter, it's just a guideline

No. In fact, I'd actively advise turning up on the 28th instead.

A-I is "Old Rootes", J-whatever is "New Rootes".

There are some shelves, but other than that you're probably stuck with storage boxes, tbh. There's probably something really obvious I haven't thought of though (I mostly just raided the library continuously for stuff to read).

Thanks for your help!

Does that mean that 'New Rootes' is nicer because of it being newer?

Also, because I have missed out on buying some events tickets, I am a bit confused about freshers fortnight. Can we still buy when we actually start living at Warwick? Or must it all be done online? I don't really know what I fancy going to yet and would be more likely to do a pay on the door thing when I see how I feel?

Cheers!

No idea, I've never actually been inside New Rootes.

You can buy whilst you're there, but some things will probably be sold out. No idea about buying them on the door - I've never tried. The freshers events will probably be sold out anyway though.

I'm the same, I'm not sure what I want to go to so I haven't bought any tickets yet. Think I need to get a move on though because three of them have already sold out. I just looked at the website and it looks like once it's sold out, it's sold out. I might be wrong but I think the 28th and 29th are the only times you can actually buy tickets on the door.

Question about roots:

I have been offered an en suite shared room in Rootes J-P. Does anyone know what these rooms are like? There's no pictures on the website :s-smilie:

I wasn't aware that Rootes had either en suite, or shared rooms.
