Can anyone tell me if we are allowed to take our own duvet and pillow cover sets? I asked the uni and they said no, but i was wondering if students took their own anyway because nobody ever bothers to check also, are we allowed to put posters on our walls using blu tack?

Yes, you can. No idea who told you that, but they're wrong.

They might have meant that you don't need to bring bedding as they provide it, but you're certainly allowed to bring it.
With regards to blu-tac, I don't think it's officially allowed if I remember correctly, however the main thing is that you don't leave marks on the walls. Many people do put up posters.
Thanks! Yeah, I have to be honest, I thought it was weird we weren't allowed to bring our own bedding. However, the person I emailed wasn't... Forthcoming with info. Maybe he just couldn't be bothered to answer questions :P
To all the people sharing in westwood, did you all get an email saying your weekly fee is around £45 but you're advised not to pay it until permanent accommodation has been found?
Has anyone been able to access their personal timetable yet? On Start.Warwick it said we should have had them on the 22nd but It wont let me view mine...
Hey, I need some help regarding the payment for accommodation. I've just paid the first term fee via phone ("Debit/Credit card (excluding Diners Card) over the telephone on: 0845 0040 357") and gotten the confirmation from the bank. I haven't received anything on email (personal or the Warwick one) from the university though. Is it normal?

If you already have one then it might be useful to bring it, but otherwise I wouldn't bother. It's much cheaper to print in the library than to buy your own printer and cartridges, and you can do it straight from your laptop or phone now so it's very easy.
When filling in my questionnaire I put down that im a quiet person, but they gave me an offer to live in rootes. Did the uni look at what I put down in my questionnaire at all or are there some quiet corridors in rootes?

I emailed them asking how payment works the other day and their reply was:
"Thank you for your email. Once you have been made an offer of permanent accommodation you would be able to make one payment for term 1 for both the temporary and permanent accommodation."
So you pay for everything at the end of your shared accommodation. (Which, in the same email, they said will not be longer than a term and should only be a few weeks)

From what I've heard, they're trying to change the image of Rootes being so loud etc. I expect there probably are quiet corridors of Rootes that you've probably been put in, hopefully!

Those questionnaires are not used to allocate accommodation, they are only used to place you with other people in the corridor. If you really wanted to avoid Rootes then you shouldn't have put it down, unfortunately. That said, you will likely be allocated together with less raucous people in your corridor than those who put down they were loud and outgoing.
I bought one after about a week. I'd say it depends which course you're doing. If you're studying an essay based subject it's definitely worth investing in one in my opinion. There are plenty of printers in the library though, so you can always print there if you prefer, I think it's about 6p a page for black and white...? (Can someone confirm this? I don't ever print anything there anymore! )
Also does anyone know which blocks of Lakeside the laundrettes are in? I'm in 3, where's the closest one? I'll bring a proper laundry basket if it's not in my block (last time I was on campus I lived a floor above the laundrette and just sort of grabbed stuff and carried it downstairs a bit clumsily, but I don't fancy dropping clothes all over the courtyard where the geese are...)
