Yeah I'm thinking JM but the 30 weeks seems a bit of a hassle!

I think I'm going to pick Arthur Vick, couldn't really decide between AV and Sherbourne/Heronbank but I like the central location of AV, the downside being that it is only a 30 week let, it is cheaper though!

Among Heronbank and Lakeside, which one would be a better choice in terms of size of room and kitchen? I have seen some images from the uni website and I prefer the furniture arrangement of Lakeside. Also I would like to put a digital piano in my room

Just butting in here.... but I don't think you can apply to Lakeside for First year can you? (Unless you're not, haha)

I'm applying to Heronbank too!
Just checking, is it true you are only allowed to apply for one 30 week ensuite accommodation? I cant see it anywhere on the information?

They've got the same size rooms, so it's really down to personal preference about the layout.

I'm trying to decide between AV/JM and Bluebell. I really like the idea of bluebell because of the 39 week let, but I'm worried by all the posts I've read saying it is very anti-social. How bad is it? should I go for bluebell and just hope for a good flat?

It varies, but you'll probably have a few people in your flat that just don't talk.

It's not that bad. You can get a surprising amount of stuff in the lockable cupboard (make sure you get a padlock of the right size). It's wide enough for three of those big plastic crate things, with stuff stacked on top.

It's one thirty week let ensuite, but I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere either.

That's disappointing - don't want to be stuck in a flat with people that don't speak! Is Sherbourne any different? and how far out i Sherbourne?

Never been inside Sherbourne, but it's maybe 10 minutes walk away. By the standards of most unis, not very far at all.
You can only apply for one 30 week let with en-suite and I seem to remember that being on the actual page where you submit your choices?

Just thought I'd pop in here because I used this a lot last year before I started Uni so I wanted to provide people with things you're probably worrying about.
I live in Cryfield which is 30 week let without en suite, and £79 a week and I absolutely love it. You'll probably read bad reviews of Cryfield but it's actually pretty decent. It's very social if that's what you're looking for, and yes the corridors are narrow and the walls are thin but its really not a problem. Moving out every term isn't that stressful either, you have a lockable cupboard to keep things in which fits quite alot, I usually put all my kitchen stuff in there and things that I decorate my room with and there is also a trunk room which you can keep bits and bobs in that are too big or can't fit in your lockable cupboard which everyone can use but it gets locked when we're not here. I initially applied for JM because I wanted an en suite, but there are plenty of showers and toilets that you're never in a position when you have to que or wait and most times when I go in the toilets, there's no one even in there if it's privacy you're worried about. Most lecture halls and the SU are only a 2 minute walk away, and tesco is about 20 minutes away, most of us walk to tesco then share a taxi back (usually around £5) or just take suitcases/big bags and fill them up with shopping.

So, to sum it up:
Pro's:
- we have a common room! Which is where we tend to do most pre-drinking and where people kinda congregate, it's only pretty much the bottom floor that use it though.
- cheap
- very social
- close to main campus
- there's alot of greenery surrounding Cryfield, which is great in the Summer.
- Plenty of storage space
- we don't get many fire alarms

Con's:
- Moving out every term (although like I said, it's not that bad)
- It can be too social for some people at some times.
- Probably one of the furthest away from tesco (I think?)
- When moving your stuff in, you have to walk up a little bit of a hill which is tiring (or I'm just really unfit).
I hope that helped anyone who was considering Cryfield

These kinds of rules have changed over the years depending on the types of accommodation available and how popular they are. So to be certain, check what information is given on the website and see the instructions given on the application form.

Bluebell seems to get a lot of negative press about being anti-social, stuck-up, etc. I know two people living there now who seem to be enjoying it. They're both definitely very social!! I'm going to apply there and I'm definitely not an anti-social, stuck-up person. I would maybe ask those who are giving it the bad wrap how they know so much about the so-called 'negatives'. I did read on the Warwick site as well how Bluebell used to be so tightly secured inside that you were pretty much stuck to your kitchen and your section of rooms but they have now relaxed that and you can visit other rooms/kitchens without having to be swiped in. Hope this helps

This has probably been asked a lot but my primary concern is the halls being sociable, therefore i've put Rootes first but i'm not sure which other halls are supposed to be very social?

I'm hoping Westwood and/or Cryfield are?

Thanks
I'm in Cryfield, and it's very social. If you make sure on your accommodation application that you like going out and are social yourself, you're likely to be put with social people anyway. I'm not quite sure for Westwood, but if you wanted to go to the SU for a night out (like pop, or freshers events) it's quite a walk away and probably more so if you're drunk.
Are rooms allocated on a first come first served basis or do they wait until the deadline for applying and then try to sort everyone out afterwards? Also, it says on their website the "end of May" as the opening date for accommodation applications to be open but it's not yet opened, does anyone know when this will be? Thanks!

They wait until the deadline, then sort people out (at random, so it doesn't matter when you apply as long as it's before the deadline). I don't know exactly when applications will open.

Applications are already open. I applied Wednesday evening as I thought it was first come first serve

in rootes didn't 14 of their twin rooms get converted into ensuite? or am getting confused
It is a bit scary, when you hear about people who only got their 4th or 5th choice!
Does anyone know if I have to apply for accommodation if Warwick is my insurance choice? Or would I just get whats left?
