I'm debating whether or not to do this as well. On the one hand it would probably be courteous to let them know; but on the other everyone I've heard of that's emailed them has had the reply of that it doesn't really matter, they're just guidelines?

Yeah that's exactly what I thought too. However, when we collect our uni card and key, would it even be available for the Saturday? Worried that they'll say something like 'you're not supposed to arrive today' :|

It will be available for the Saturday. I don't believe that they would say 'you aren't supposed to arrive today', and even if they do, they're hardly gonna turn you away after driving all that way :L Every undergraduate's accommodation contract begins on the 27th (if I'm not mistaken) so you have the right to turn up on that day. Just to reiterate, the separated arrival technique is just a guideline with the sole purpose to ease congestion which is gonna be pretty low on our priorities :P I've heard several accounts of people phoning up the accommodation office and they've replied with the aforementioned comments so there really is nothing to worry about!

Ohh okay I'll just arrive on Saturday then. As long as they don't need to note people's names down, then I guess there's no point in me ringing them :P Thanks for the help

It says on the website that the first instalment is due on the first day of term. The first day of term is the 29th of September. If you have a maintenance loan, the first instalment comes on the 29th of September.
But i havent got a maintenance loan my parents are paying my hall fees so they need to do a direct debit, so anyone know how this is set up , on my student record system it says nothing is owed ??
URGENT - Can you still cancel the accommodatiopn contract because it only applies on the first day of term? Or because it's outside of the 7 day cooling period I can't?
Yes, I do know which block/room I'm in. If you log into your Start.Warwick account and go into the student finance section you can see which block/room you are in and you can view your bill

You won't be turned away. You have about a fortnight to sort it out and if you contact them anyway, they'll be more lenient. I never paid by direct debit, you can just log in on the Student Records area and pay by card at the start of each term. (as if you were buying something on Amazon, only it's like £1,500 haha)
