Does anyone know when we'll be allowed to apply?

The website says the end of the month at some point. I think that's when it's been the last few years too, we'll just have to see how many choices etc, we have to make. But it's not done on a first come first served basis so, don't stress.

As an international visiting student I'm kind of in a predicament here as I'll only be at Warwick for 10 weeks, whereas all the lettings are for 30 weeks or more.. Any tips/advice?

Are you Erasmus then? If in doubt, I'd contact the university for advice, or maybe wait until applications for accommodation have opened and see what it says then?

So, did anyone else see that they've decided who gets Whitefields 2015/16?

It's postgrad (40 weeks) for £3240 and first year undergrad (39 weeks) for £3159.

I'm seriously considering this for my first choice... Well, this or Rootes. Does anyone have opinions on them? Pictures wouldn't be amiss either, please!

I don't know if anyone got back to you but I live in whitefields and could try take some photos for you tomorrow
I know every building has loud and quiet halls but I've read that Sherbourne isnt a very social place, could anyone who lived there or is living there give their opinion on this? I'm quite a social person,I wouldn't want to be stuck in a quiet building
Just have a question about payment of fees for on campus accommodation. It seems from what I can find that fees are paid upfront in total for each term before commencing that term. I'll be studying under a scholarship that will pay me living expenses monthly, which looks like it might difficult to pay everything upfront. Are there any other options for paying the fees or will I have to save so I can front up the fees at the start of each term?

That would be fab, thank you! Nobody's said anything so I'd love to see some pictures, if you don't mind. Can you tell me about it then? Do you like it? How did you find the gamble of flat mates? Is there a lot of noise etc?

I'm not entirely sure, but I'd imagine it would have to be upfront each term. It's like when applying to the SLC they tell you how much is paid per term. I think, it should be the same for accommodation fees too.

EDIT: I found the link below, it's out of date but it gives an overview of the way accommodation price is split over the year.

Applications for accommodation opened this morning, for any one who has already decided.......
Does anyone know anything more about Tocil as it doesn't look too bad at the moment for the price? I quite like the look of Westwood but the location is putting me off

I know very little about Tocil save what I've seen on the website but I'm also quite tempted by Westwood. The walking distances, from what I gather, are only about 15 minutes, which, in real world terms, is very minor. Besides, Westwood seems to be the same distance in the opposite direction from Lakeside, Heronbank and Sherbourne.

The grid I copied in below has approximate walking times from all the accommodation. If you can't see it for whatever reason look at the TSR Ask Anything FAQ thread. It's in the second post under "Accommodation", near the bottom.

Have you read the reviews at the start of this thread? If not, have a look, there are lots about all the different halls. The link below is also quite persuasive...!

I've got my last exam tomorrow so I don't actually think I'll get a chance to take the pictures today but I will tomorrow. I'll quote you again when I have

I'll break it up as a list
Positives
Cheap
Close to Costcutter, pharmacy, the laundrette coffee shops, Student Union, Terrace bar, Fusion bar (football and sport screenings), the dirty duck pub, the bread oven (sandwich shop), piazza area and the bus stop
Close to path to gibbet hill (Life sciences, medicine and some modules of psychology) and the learning grid (mini library, useful when you need to print something in a rush!)
Can't stress the location enough, I love it
Homely feel
Common room is nice
Nice patch of green behind the houses
The rooms are quite big

Negatives
If you are one of the houses closest to the SU (Flats 10-14), the SU can be quite loud (But I know if you expressed in the application "about me bit" that you don't like noise, they won't put you on these houses). I live in one of the closest ones and my window is close to the SU. Its bothered me like a handful of times, twice during exam period when I put ear plugs in. No one else in my house seems that bothered.
About general noise, no noiser than anywhere else really. You hear people walking by but thats the same anywhere. If you put in your about me section that you don't want noise or noisy flatmates, they won't put you near the noise or noisy people!
The kitchen is small. Its not uncomfortable but fridge space isn't super abundant.

About your flatmates, I have realised over the year that the problems with flatmates aren't just Whitefields related. I know a lot of people in other accommodations really unhappy with their flatmates, so it is kinda random. That said, because it is like a house, I think they take extra care when matching you up with your "about me" segments in Whitefields. The house next to mine is full of very quiet people, our house is in the middle, the house next door are loud. They really did a good job of finding people we would get on with. Even if you don't, a lot of people don't spend all their time with their flatmates.

The about me section is important and you need to be really truthful in it. I know some people who over exaggerated their want to party and have ended with flatmates who party every single night, and they hate it. Describe what you actually want, what you are actually like and you will be fine!

If you have any other questions, I'll probably answer tomorrow after my exam!

Tocil's good. Only significant problem is the lack of a sink in the room, but it's far from deal-breaking.
Which accommodation are undersubscribed (so you're almost certain to get it) and which are oversubscribed (so you're unlikely to get it)? Cheers
All applied  but didn't realise you are only allowed 2 39-week en-suite choices, kinda threw me off and I had to rearrange my whole preference order.

Oh, I've not done mine just yet. I'm still deciding. At the moment it's either Tocil or Whitefields at 1/2; then Cryfield, Rootes and Westwood.

But that's not definite yet. 😄

Just applied too.. Now I'm thinking I went overboard on saying how I value my sleep and am a quiet person, don't appreciate late-night parties and all those stuff on my description.... Hope they won't put me in a place full of anti-social ppl...

My choices:
1) Tocil
2) Bluebell
3) Rootes
4) Sherbourne
5) Whitefields

Thank you so much. This is so helpful! I'd love some pictures when you have the time, I'm thinking of putting it as my first or second choice.

So, for the about me but, we should basically write what kind of person we are, when we go to bed and what kind of people we'd like to like with?
