I'm thinking about putting Heronbank or Lakeside as one as my choices but I'll be having lectures at the Gibbert Hill campus. Is this a bad idea because it is so far away or does anyone know of any Life Sciences students staying at accommodation around that area?

I'm putting Jack Martin as my first choice though.

If you don't mind a longer walk its fine. For me, the extra walk put me off because I like to leave as late as possible! Its not like super far away either.

Bear in mind that JM is really popular and you may not get your first choice so pick a second/third that you really like!

Hiya I'm an offer holder for Biological Sciences, trying to choose accommodation atmo...
How bad is shared bathrooms ? I'm not rich by any means and am looking at all the non-ensuite options which seem cheaper and which look fun! Is there any downsides I should know about before I apply?
Also has any one been put in off-campus accommodation for the first year?

Taaaaaa!!!
Xoxoxo xox

I shared with 4 other people this year. Its not really a problem, I was really scared to share but its really never bothered me. I waited to have a shower twice and the toiler a couple times, but it was always clean and tidy!

Does anyone know whether the flats at Tocil are mixed? (i.e. first years living in the same flat as final year students/postgrad students)

I'm not 100% on this but I'm fairly certain that finalists/postgrads are never mixed with first years. I know at whitefields, there are postgraduate houses and the rest are freshers.

Hi everyone !

I'll be a postgrad in economics next year and I would really like to be on the campus. I have the choice between Claycroft, Heronbank, Lakeside, Tocil and Whitefields.

What would you suggest me for my top choices in order to have a good chance to be on campus please ??

And is the bedroom walls in Whitefields still yellow (as in the University photos) ?

thanks!

I don't know that order would be best but the bedroom walls are still yellow in Whitefields. I posted some pictures of Whitefields before if you look through my post history

Thanks! Do you know which accommodation is the most popular out of Jack Martin and Authur Vick? Because I like them both the same but obviously you can only choose one of them.
Can I just confirm that you had to apply for one shared facility in top 3 choices?

extremely close, those two and sherbourne are the closest buildings to the wbs building  literally a 3 min walk if walking at normal speed.

i think there was a doc a couple years ago about the ratio of apps to offers but cant remember where. think av just shades it but essentially 90% of people apply to one of the two.

Ah thank you, so getting a bicycle, no need? Considering its other uses also.

if you wanted a bike to make the walk from lakeside to wbs, defo not. if you want to just generally ride around campus, sure why not.

Yeah, entirely possible. Some of the roads can be a bit dodgy, but you can mostly avoid those.
Hey I will be a history undergraduate at Warwick hopefully providing i get the grades. I need some advice on what accommodation to choose, I've narrowed it down to only 4 which i think are appropiate ( it must be cheapish and not really bothered about en suite) .

ROOTES
WESTWOOD
CRYFIELD
TOCIL

I have heard good things about rootes but not much about the rest. Any tips or guidance would be much appreciated or even if you feel i should not go for any of these choices
Hey, potential economics undergrad.
Still trying to come up with a shortlist of five.
I've got Sherborne, JM, Tocil.
I'm thinking of putting down Rootes to pad things, and I wouldn't be too upset with it,
but I need another.
I was thinking of Westwood, but everyone's saying the distance is a pain (not a problem for me in terms of getting to lectures, but for sports, societies and socialising, could be a pain).
Anyone have any suggestions for a sociable hall?
I've just realised I have to apply for accommodation even though Warwick is my insurance. I have no clue where to start, I have never been to Warwick and have never heard of any of these options. How long are the terms? Is there any disadvantage to applying somewhere where you only pay for 30 weeks?

Anyone got any recommendations? I want somewhere fairly cheap and possibly en-suite depending on the price ranges. I would be going home outside of term time so would preferably only want to pay for when I'm there. I would have a bike so wouldnt mind being a 5-10 min cycle from places. I would also want to use the gym a few times a week. I would be studying maths if that makes a difference to how far lectures would be for me.

As you can tell I know very little about Warwick, both the city and the uni. I chose it back in September and haven't put much thought into it since.

Thank you!

Terms are 3x10 weeks. The disadvantage of 30 weeks vs. 39 weeks is that you have to move your stuff out over Christmas/Easter (but there is a large-ish cupboard in the room that you can lock some stuff in) and you can't stay around over the holidays (you get kicked out on the Saturday after term finishes, and can't move back in until the Saturday before it starts). For location: nothing is very far from anywhere. Your 5-10 minute cycle will cover everywhere. This map is useful for locations: the maths department is centre-left, just above the place where the screen starts (above the green smiley-face thingy). The pale blue things are the accommodation blocks, and have the names on them. You can get the details of them here.
Anybody know when the deadline for applying for accommodation is?
