Good good, i'd rather have a bit of overflow if i'm going to be sharing a fridge of possibly 12+ people! (and for the things that i don't want pinched..)

I take it the cleaners don't seem to notice in your acquaintance's case then?

Well the cleaner can't not notice cos it lights up blue. I guess it depends on how strict they are.

We have 2 fridges between 30 people and just 1 freezer. Isn't life great?

Join the club, that was my first year too.

Oh, and regarding the other issues;

People staying over: Fine. As said, as long as they're not pretty much living in your room, nobody cares. You wait for the 3AM fire alarms... we played the "ooh look who's wearing someone elses clothes/towel/dressing gown and staying with X tonight!" game. Very revealing and surprising sometimes! :p:

Mini-fridges: Personally I'd say too risky. I know several people who had theirs confiscated by cleaners. Does depend on how strict your cleaner is though. Ground-floor Loxley in Westwood last year had Glenys ( = Satan).

SEriously guys i know they dont care about who stays, but please tell your resident tutor when you have someone to stay - fire safety people.

When its for an extended stay, yes - but I mean randomers for one night... no-one cares...

Why arent people allowed to bring minifridges??
Reply 708

They use up too much electricity me thinks.

Most university accommodation regulations state "no heating devices allowed in rooms". Kettles, toasters, microwaves, minifridges... all are banned. I think it's overzealous fire safety regulations. If you say a fridge isn't a heating device, you obviously don't do Physics.

If you ask me, a computer is technically a heating device, and some beastly desktops will take up far more power than a minifridge and laptop put together, and output more of it as heat, too. Ah well. Them's the rules, I don't write them.
hey everyone, firstly I don't actually go to the uni so I'm not being biast...my best friend lives in Arthur Vick and I've come up from london to visit her, been here a few days now and I'm having the time of my life! I come from london so I'm used to a big social scene and was worried that the people here wouldn't live up to my expectations but so far we have been out everynight, stayed out until at least 6am and come home absolutely wrecked. For anyone that says AV people are unsociable this isnt true! Everyone on her floor has made me feel so welcome and they go out everywhere together (big family vibe going on.) We have also made friends with people from the floors below and they are also top people and definitely not ones to stay in when theres a party going on! The common room thing is the highlight of the halls, everyone eats together and watches tv or just lounges around, its a great space to do random things (we held a high jump competition 2 nights ago with drink involved) There are only two people on her floor who are doing room studies, ie don't socialise much but there are about 24 people per floor so the rest make up for it! Everything is nice and modern and you're not too far from anything (except tescos like nearly every other accomodation). If I get accepted to warwick I will definitely be asking to have these halls, I'm having an amazing time here!

Can anyone do a review of Arthur Vick for me?

Aside from the one above.

Also, are there any rooms that arn't cleaned because a) I have had bad experiences with thieving cleaners in the past and b) I, as hard as it may be to believe, like cleaning.
Whitefield's isn't cleaned and may i say it rocks here .
On the AV front my friend lives there and her corridor is so unsociable and quiet. She really doesn't like it.

Accommodation will be slightly different this year...

Claycroft will not be available to first years, but Heronbank will.

Yes i am. Whitefields is really cool, i can stager home from the union and be at most places within around 5 minutes. It is a great little house, which is a big appeal as it is an actual house its so cute  and i live with a great bunch of people. So yes all is good, love the uni and so very glad i came.
If you don't have your room cleaned, is it a big deal? (I'm a packrat, and slightly messy... :P)
