hii everyone! Im interested in knowing more about warwick accommodation! does anyone have an idea about which hall of residence actually has the least chinese?
In general, halls with longer let times have more international students, for obvious reasons. It's not a massively strong trend, though.
Im currently in Sherbourne and yet to find a Chinese person or one of those stereotypical internationals that don't talk/socialise etc. Sherbourne is also en suite. If you're trying to avoid the internationals (I won't lie I was too) go for anything but Bluebell and quiet areas or single sex. The halls don't matter that much
Thanks so much for your reply I heard that there are A LOT of Chinese / international students in Warwick, is this true? And do you know if there are a lot of them doing law too? Sorry for asking you so many questions!

erm there is quite a lot of internationals but that is to be expected at any top Russell group uni. All the internationals I've encountered are very wealthy and from places like Dubai, South Africa or Singapore and all attended international schools but lived in those places because of their parents jobs relocating. I'd say the main dominance is French people and you tend to find Chinese or Indian students on the postgrad courses- but honestly it's not a problem like last year I was really anxious about the fact of so many internationals so I was going to choose Bristol or Exeter as my firm but I'm so glad I didn't because it really doesnt impact on anything. Warwick is as social as you make it that's one thing I've learnt this term.

I see! I was actually thinking about the same thing! I was really hesistant about whether I should choose Warwick as my firm too! But now that I know how you feel about the whole situation, I am relieved haaha

Yeah honestly Warwick is a lot more right wing and middle class than I expected. All my friends went to private school too which I didn't expect would be the case. Another thing is it feels like every home student (UK) is an Oxbridge reject and every international got rejected from US unis. This is just my experience anyway
I mean as second year offsite. Figured that most people who apply for individual are as crap socially as I am, so I should get some peace and quiet for once.
I am thinking of doing this individual "accommodation form" thing for second year off-campus. There doesn't seem to be many other options for me. Hopefully we get allocated with other individual applicants, as opposed to pre-existing friendship groups.

My nightmare is to be allocated to people with other groups too tbh. Why's it your only option? No friends as well ?

I have a few friends from my course, but they decided to go with their flatmates. Half of my flat are Chinese, and the non-chinese from my flat decided to go with their coursemates. Pretty awkward situation really.
Could you explain what its like at Sherbourne to me as well please?
Sherbourne is very nice and quite sociable as well. I was surprised at how sociable it was when I came. And it's not very international either. I've got load of british people in my flat.

Would you say its comparable to somewhere like Rootes socially? Also would you recommend Sherbourne over JM and AV?
Well obviously Rootes is more sociable due to being closer to the Piazza but I like Sherbourne because it is like its own little world and it's very nice to be a bit farther from the centre of campus. Sherbourne's got the best of both worlds. It depends on you though, if you like to party every single day then go to Rootes while if you have more of a balanced lifestyle (say going out once or twice a week) then pick Sherbourne cause you won't regret it once exam time comes.
Tbh JM and AV are so overrated. Sherbourne is a lot nicer and newer. AV and JM are closer to the centre of campus though.

sherborne is tough to move between floors, thats the best thing about rootes imo, you literally can go from one side to another in 1 minute. very easy to find new people
