for accommodation, I'm thinking:

Sherbourne, Rootes, Westwood, Lakeside, Tocil

Just warning you that Rootes is renowned for being the party block with being consistently loud and constant fire alarms. If you like a bit of peace and quiet once in a while then I'd be wary of Rootes.

And Westwood is the furthest from lecture halls. However, if that's not going to be an issue then you should be fine, my friend lives in Westwood and she says after a while you get used to the distance.

Tocil doesn't have a washbasin in their rooms unlike Rootes, Westwood and Cryfield.

Hey, I'm an offer holder for this coming academic year. I just wanted to know whether everyone has to move out in year two and live on their own or are international students excused?

Everyone has to move out in their second year including international students.

It's rare to get accommodation on campus in your second year.

However, I think Warwick Accommodation gives preference to disabled students to stay on campus for the duration of their course.

Hi everyone!

I was wondering whether twin rooms are actually cheaper than the normal ones.

I'm also hesitating between Rootes, Cryfield and Whitefields (in preferential order). I want to enjoy the uni experience to a maximum and be near facilities. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations?
I have a budget of less than £100 per week so if you have other recommendations please let me know

Thanks

Yes, if you end up room sharing, you only pay half of the rent.

Thanks, do you know if the rooms are slightly bigger and have two desks?

When my friend had to share a room in Westwood there was only an extra bed, so one desk and chair etc. I'm not sure if these are the normal sharing rooms. She was in there for 10 weeks and didn't mind.

I wouldn't recommend Whitefields, I've only heard bad things about it so far like people from the SU (nights) stopping by to go to the toilet etc. (also, your room won't have a window!).
Twin rooms are, afaik, only for the first few weeks until Warwick find you a single room.

The room is quite small but after a while you'll learn to adjust and it'll no longer be a bother. The corridors are also pretty narrow!

Having your own washbasin is incredibly useful!!!

I've only ever had to wait for the loo three times since being here in October! I've never had to wait for the shower.

The kitchen is quite big with each holding an average of 13 people. Everyone gets two cupboards, 1 drawer, half a fridge shelf and half a freezer shelf.

Moving in day was pretty tough because there's no lifts and I was all the way on the third floor - so good luck with that if you get Cryfield :colondollar:.

The location is perfect as it's very close to the SU, Learning Grid, Costa and various restaurants once you exit the Cryfield cottages.

If your lectures will be held on Library Road, which has the Science buildings, Engineering building and Social Sciences building, regularly then you'll be pleased to hear that Cryfield is only 10 mins away! The Maths and Stats building is just across Library road, I know a lot of lectures are held there.

If you move into Cryfield you'll save a heck load of money since it's the cheapest!

Overall, I personally loved my experience at Cryfield! I adjusted to the small room pretty quick and the location is incredibly convenient and I can safely do a bit of impulse spending since I've saved a lot of money!

I hope that helps! =)

Thank you it was really helpful!
In your opinion, how much would you need for food/other stuff each week? Is it true that there are lot of STEM students in Cryfield as well? How clean are the bathrooms/toilets?

I'm a budding MORSE coder, so the Maths and Stats building will be just about 15 minutes away from the Cryfield cottages, right?

Thank you! So I guess I'll have to find me a good outside accomodation.

Going to rule out Whitefields then, for letting me know!

Where did you get the no window thing from? My friend had 2 windows in his whitefield room (but he had the biggest one in the block) and my other two friends who lived there both had windows in the rooms.

I looked at the pictures on the Warwick accomodation page haha... Wouldn't bet on having a room with windows if you can also make sure you certainly have them at Cryfield or Rootes
TRY AND AVOID WESTWOOD. Its so far from campus and for me annoyingly far my friend's accommodation.

The only thing I like about westwood is the big rooms.

I lived in Westwood. The rooms are huge and the blocks have a nice feel. They're really close to tescos and the student post room (also Westwood cafe and Avon learning grid). The uni has a free shuttle bus that drives you around campus if you're worried about walks. It's not that far from everything (you can easily walk to the train station from there in 20 mins). It takes less time to walk from WW to Rootes than it does to get the bus in from leamington (many first years forget this lol)
wondering which to put first out of Rootes, Westwood or Sherbourne.

I want a sociable atmosphere, but I can't decide between them.
Hi there.I'm an Erasmus student and I'm going to carry out an internship at Warwick for 4 months (June-September).I need some advice on accommodation. Unfortunately I have a small budget. Please help, I really appreciate it.

(On campus accommodation is not an option since I'm not a full time student in the UK)

Westwood is so far away from everything. You'll never sleep in Rootes and everything seems to always get broken. Sherborne is also miles away but really nice
Choose Tocil/AV
