Hey! I'm an offer older for Classics who has firmed Warwick. I'm looking to save a lot of money on accommodation, so don't really mind about en suites etc. Just wondering if any of the accommodations have a reputation for being unclean/dirty? (That's the only thing that would bother me lol)

Do people at Sherborne party?

Haha yeah loads! We go out or have flat parties on average 4/5 times per week
Do you get full length mirrors in halls rooms?

I think you do, best way would be to check in the pictures provided/room contents information provided by the university. I think the accommodation handbook has a copy of the latter in it.

Rootes kitchens can be hellish and I've seen many photos of the roof panels being on the floor. A few people in Whitefields and Tocils have also had mushrooms in them because of damp or something.

Oh, sounds bad lol. Was considering cryfield since its so cheap and the 30 week let is perfect for me, are there any pros and cons? Some of the posts on it on here are a little outdated
Any Pros/cons about Tocil and Claycroft would be brilliant!!

Cryfield have to completely move out over xmas and easter which I've had to do for easter and it is a real pain. I think it's the cheapest but I've never been inside it so I can't really judge.

Hi everyone,

I've been searching for some information regarding accommodation, and they all say pretty much the same everywhere.

This will be my first year studying a PhD at Warwick, and I'm not quite sure about what's the best accommodation option for me.

Some people told me not to stay on campus, because there're not too many things to do and one gets bored pretty easy. Though going through this thread I read that there's a lot of partying and stuff, it seems that it's mainly a fresher's thing (I'm 26, so I don't think I'll be going out every night with 18-19y-os). As you must have noticed, I'm an international student also and I'm quite intrigued by some comments like "it's a very international place", or other comments that make me think internationals live in their own Twilight Zone.

One person recommended me Leamington Spa and it looks very nice, but there's little information on particular properties (forget about pics). Also, some people seem reluctant to stay in Coventry. Additionally, I am not sure if it's cheaper to live off-campus, and if, living in Leam or Coventry, I will probably become a kind of outcast.

Until I started asking around, I was thinking of staying on campus (in Claycroft or Tocil). I thought it was a great thing to live near the Sports Centre, Library, and the Humanities Building, but now I fear I may repent if I decide to live there a whole year.

Thanks in advance and sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes or odd wording.
i'm trying to decide how to put myself across in the section where you have to write about yourself; i'm a quiet person but want to start being more social when i start uni and i want to be around people who help me to 'come out of my shell' but i'm worried i'll end up with people who are too loud and just intimidate me

Also, does anyone know what the 'rules' are for choosing accommodation this year, eg how many choices you have to put down, how many can be en suite etc, or is it the same every year? thanks.

If you've already got a bunch of people you want to live with, and at least one of you is able to be physically present in Warwick well in advance (like, now), go off campus in the best house that person can find (Kenilworth is quiet, Leamington is full of students, Canley is cheap and in walking distance of the university [but is largely composed of houses that were supposed to be demolished 50 years ago or more, though the Cannon Park area is nicer, and other parts of Coventry are further away] - pick your preference of those three). If not, go on campus and sort the rest out after that. You're never going to have any major problems living on campus, at least if you're far enough from the SU to avoid noise problems (which Claycroft and Tocil both are). Off campus is generally cheaper, but not massively. I'm not sure if applications are still open or not, but applying to be a residential tutor is also an option (free, or nearly free, accommodation in exchange for dealing with whatever problems come up from some undergrads). Of the two you mentioned, Claycroft is a touch more modern, if that matters to you, and is more convenient for Tescos, and (marginally) less so for other places.

Just be honest. Trying to game the system in any other way isn't going to work: there are just too many players to game theory it effectively.

Full regulations are here: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation/studentaccommodation/apply/15/new/1ug

In summary: Either 5 or 6 options, including at most one of Jack Martin and Arthur Vick, and at most two of Bluebell, Heronbank, Lakeside and Sherbourne.

My choices were:
Sherbourne
Arthur Vick
Heronbank
Rootes
Tocil
Cryfield

So yeah Sherbourne was my first choice and its been the best year honestly. Before coming to Warwick I was tempted to put Arthur Vick as my first choice because I heard it was the most social ensuite alongside Jack Martin but then I was worried I wouldn't get it because its heavily oversubscribed and also I didn't want the hassle of moving everything out for the easter holidays. I also heard Rootes was the best for social life which is also very true but then I wanted an ensuite so decided against it. Sherbourne is the newest halls so it doesn't have a stereotype attached to it except that its far (but its really not because its 10 minutes to the SU if that and theres also a shuttlebus which runs till like 1am). I'd say don't put Westwood or Whitefield on your choices because mostly everyone I know got that at their choice because its undersubscribed. Also don't say that you want to share room unless if you really want to because every flat in Sherbourne has one twin room. If you want to know anything else message me. Good luck with your exams

Hi, I've firmed Warwick for PAIS and French, if you get a twin room at Sherbourne, does it lower the price?
Also have you visited Tocil? I want to know what it's like
