Ok thanks for the help, well it was Westwood I'm not really up for going to, and I heard a few Maths students (I'm doing MORSE) got put there without applying for it. Ah well we'll see soon

If I apply for Rootes what are the chances I will get it? And if their is a hall i'd like to aviod and don't put it as one of my 5, will i definitaly not get it? Thanks

Apply for rootes and tell them you party loads and go to bed late. Then you have a pretty good chance.
We all know you work there. I doubt writing the date in the middle of a 39 page thread here is going to save you many phone calls at all. I think the prospective students are entitled to make a phone call and find out about accommodation. I had to because I didn't receive much clear information in the post. Out of all the universities I applied to Warwick was one of the worst when it came to the accommodation office sending out information before I started to wonder what was going on.

so when is the start date to apply for accommodation and when will we recieve details for it then??
I have two questions

1) Which accomadation is the most/least popular?
2) I like the look of JM and AV, if Warwick is my insurance uni, is it unlikely I will get into either of them?

Thanks

Ensuites are the most popular, pretty obvious why. Westwood is least popular, but it shouldn't be cos its awesome.

The fact Warwick's your insurance shouldn't make any difference - they allocate accomodation after places are confirmed anyway I do believe. Also though, you can't apply to both JM and AV as you're only allowed to apply to one en-suite.

if money didnt matter which accomadation is the best just in terms of the quality of the room, kitchen etc

None are standout better. It comes down a lot to personal preferences. en-suite is more expensive but leaves you with a smaller room. Do you think it's important to be close to the union? Or doing bio sciences, would you be willing to trek for 30 minutes every day to the Gibbet Hill campus? More or fewer people to a kitchen?

this is probably a really stupid question but...
i've been offered a place for 2009/2010 so I don't have to apply for accomodation until next year, right?

You don't have to, no. In fact you can't, as the application will say for 2008 / 09. Valid question though.

Do I have to apply for accommodation now if Warwick is my insurance?

By the 31st July deadline, yes. Halls aren't allocated from accommodation applications until results are published and places, whether firm or insurance, are confirmed. But everyone needs to do the form so they can get straight on with it.

You're going to be sent it...

...right now

wen was the start date for applying for accommodation??
Reply 778
Relatively recently. It doesn't matter though, it isn't first-come-first-served and you're guaranteed a place as long as you apply by July 31st.

Pleease could someone give a bit of advise to help me choose accomodation..

I like to party but also need some quiet time to work (I think my course is going to have lots of hours, ach!), so yeah.. I want to be with sociable people who go out quite a bit, but not so much that the corridors are allllways noisy. I need some quiet time but wouldn't be able to manage being with totally unsociable people! I was thinking JM, but I guess it's pretty unlikely I'd get into it. So, maybe Rootes? But then I thought that might be too loud, ha. I heard some corridors are quieter than others though.. So maybe hope for a corridor which is slightly quieter?!

Anyway, any suggestions?
