Hi everyone me and one of my friends want to live together in accommodation (preferably JM or AV) and we were just wondering if anyone has advice on how we can be in the same halls? or if its even possible to do that? thanks x

Write it somewhere on your form, and give the other person's full name and UCAS number (which becomes your student ID). Make sure the other person does exactly the same. Then I would email Warwick Accommodation to explain - this will help ensure you're in the same pile of allocations (you can't be allocated together if one form has gone to one tutor and the other form to another tutor).

Also I can't seem to find any reviews about Redfern/Claycroft online from first years, is the scene bad for first-years, I'm not a massive partier but will want to be social!
thnx

Claycroft wasn't a first-year hall this year, so there won't be any.

Block: Claycroft 1
Summary: 34 flats of around 8 students, in pairs. Each pair gets their own bedroom, but share an entrance and a bathroom. 1 kitchen shared for the flat. 2 resident tutors, 1 subwarden, 1 warden all live in the building.
Pros: Right next to Tesco for your shopping needs. Very close to the gym/pool and central campus. Nearby parking. Two playing fields to the rear - rare green spaces on campus. Cheaper than en-suite. Good relationship with your next-door neighbour, almost like American college style. Can walk through the entire building - flats are not locked. Recently refurbished with new kitchens etc. Friendly resident tutors
Cons: Sharing a bathroom. New car park being built - might be construction noise for Term 1. "Quiet hall" - more strict on noise/parties. Nearby Claycroft 2 is postgraduate-only, predominantly international (Chinese) students. Only a few washing machines for the whole building to share.

What is the nearby parking intended for? Do you know anybody who has a car in first year, I know it says you're not allowed to bring a car but just wondering. Thanks

Mostly, it's there to help with the massive lack of parking anywhere on campus. You'll struggle to get a permit to park there.

It's for staff/permit holders. You would need to give a decent reason to be allowed to buy one as a first year.
So far I'm thinking that I will apply for (in this order): Bluebell, Sherbourne, either JM or AV (haven't decided yet), Claycroft and Tocil. How likely am I to get my first or second choice?

EDIT: I've decided against JM and AV due to the 34 week let, and I'm thinking of applying for Redfern instead, but that would probably be my fifth choice.

Also, which are the extremely undersubscribed accommodations which should be avoided unless you actually want to go to them?

Are there coffee makers available in all accomodations or is this something that you should bring yourself?

No, there are not coffee makers available, unless you mean "kettles".

Accommodation applications open the week beginning 30th May, not long! Does any one know the accommodation for the best social life but still has an en-suite?
Is single sex better or mixed better in accommodations? I'm not sure which one to pick!
Arthur Vick or Jack Martin for social life?

Do difference on both first questions. I prefer mixed, but your mileage may vary.

You aren't getting JM if you list it 4th. May as well put Lakeside before it

If you put Tocil as a choice, no matter the rank, you are veeery likely to get it, according to what I've read on threads about these blocks.

No, but it opens on May 30th! I think it has already been stated, but anyway, now you know...

My download speed at home is 3mb/s

Do you get warnings for doing stuff like downloading torrents?

I've tried reading up on this in general, and most Universities don't tend to allow P2P clients just because of how much bandwidth seeding can potentially take up.

I'll probably just be discreet about it and set modest limits on up and down speeds within the client.

Yeah, as long as you're not being stupid, nobody will mind.
