The Warwick Accommodation Thread (+Guide in Post#1)

I'm really starting to think that ticking 'Do you want to live in a quite area' was a bad idea even though I'm not much of a party person or drinker. I really do not want to be stuck with people that keep to themselves everytime. Does anyone know what the question actually means?

If you want to change that option, just email the accommodation team. I did that and they were happy to change it for me.

thanks!
Do you think sharing a kitchen with 13+ people would get difficult? Most of the halls I'm liking the look of have way more than 8, and I've heard horror stories about having too many people to a kitchen haha

The only possible issue is fridge space, I lived in Cryfield and had half a shelf in the freezer & fridge, it was often overloaded and people wouldn't really follow the half a shelf rule, myself included.
Other than that it's alright, you'll never find yourself unable to cook because the whole kitchen is taken, unless there's a party in that kitchen.

Hi guys!
Would someone help me and compare Heronbank and Lakeside? Am trying to work out which of these I should put as a more preferred one ;-) What springs to your mind when you think of the two?
Also, is it easier to get into AV or JM? I don't see a point in choosing between them in other way tbh...
Many thanks!^^

Heronbank and Lakeside are almost identical. Just on different sides of the lake! They are both a little bit further away from main campus than Jack Martin and Arthur Vick.

Any remarks regarding the noise? I hope it doesn't sound too obsessively ;-) but I have read somewhere in the thread that some halls have paper-thin walls which can really mess your plans up if you just don't feel like party this time. No such problems in Lakeside, Heronbank, AV/JM, Claycroft or Tocil?
If I put that I like going out and partying until 3am on weekends in my self description, could the university take my offer away?

What are the reasons some people don't choose Westwood other than that it's the furthest away from campus?
getting jealous of how warwick has a tesco on campus ahhhh

Those are all fine. The windows are the main problem. JM has had new windows put in recently, Claycroft/Tocil I've lived in and are fine, AV has been fine for years, and Lakeside/Heronbank are too far away from central campus to be a problem.

Does anyone know where the tesco is on campus?? I'm getting really stressed because I can't see it on the maps :' And is it close to Sherbourne, Heronbank, or Lakeside?

From those three, it's about a calm 20 minute walk. If you're walking faster, it's about 15 minutes. I lived in Lakeside and Tescos was the only place I shopped, it's fine, not too big a distance.

To the people who say you won't hear noise if you don't live in the centre of campus, that is not true. I lived in Lakeside and Sherbourne and Lakeside often had their own parties using the entire building, the stairways, the corridors, people's rooms, the kitchen etc. If you weren't up for it, tough, you still have to listen to it all night and into the morning. Sherbourne was the worst, they are so loud, even though there's a walk distance between Sherbourne and Lakeside, I could still hear it every night in the latter. The walls are thin in all the accom buildings and parties take place in all of them, year round.
Are Arthur Vick and Jack Martin both quite noisy/party-ish? (i don't know what word to use aha) i'm trying to decide between the two to put down. My main three choices seem so far away from central campus (Heronbank, sherbourne, and Lakeside)

It completely depends on your flatmates. I've known people to have noisy/party-ish flats in AV/JM, but I've also heard of quieter flats. I don't think it matters hugely which one you put down.

Just realised that you can only put down a maximum of 3 en-suite options... I'm freaking out a bit because I didn't even look/research at any shared bathroom accommodations! Anyone who's opting for non en-suite accommodation could you please tell me which one you chose and why? Also, could I just put down 3, and not bother putting non-en suite preferences? Or is it quite likely that I won't actually get en-suite and will need to have other options?

I was in the same boat as you when i was choosing accommodation i didnt want to have a non-en suite accom was thinking of only picking 3 but then i didn't want to risk going to an accom i didnt pick. So i picked claycroft as my 4th cuz you only got to share a toilet with one other perspn and tocil as 5th due to promixity it is from my course building. I hoped that helped

I think it says you must put a minimum of 5 options, so 2 non en-suites. I'm in the same boat as you, I really want en-suite, and like the other person who replied, I'm going to put claycroft as one of the options as you only share with 1 other person, but I'm not sure about my fifth option yet.
I haven't applied for accommodation yet because I am negotiating with Warwick to change my course. Should I wait to sort this problem out before applying (I suppose your allocation is slightly related to your course and you need your course number for your accommodation profile, right)?

Also, any Redfern experience? Rooms look nice and I am thinking of putting it as 4 or 5 choice. I really want Rootes but I am not sure which to put as 2nd and 3rd- Tocil and Whitefields? What about Claycroft? I avoid expensive en suites and 34 weeks in general but I may make an exception with Cryfield.
