I wish they'd fell us now so that we could plan and meet friends.

Yeah I know it's annoying, I suppose we find out when they literally give us our keys then? I wonder if it's first come first served (room-wise) or if they've actually allocated them beforehand.

They've already allocated them to try to match us to similar people, and apparently we might be able to find out a couple of days before, if you go onto student records, then look at your term time address, a second year says it gets updated a few days before you arrive :colone: Might not be true this year though.

Hmm! Me thinks I should explore? :u:
guysi found this really cool website, it lets you speak to current students at Warwick- unibudy.com ! there are literally so many students from all degree backgrounds 😂 the girl im speaking to right now on unibudy is so lovely, really makes me wanna go there already!!! there's a lot of info about accommodation as well from freshers- highly recommend !!!
Do you reckon if I put Warwick as insurance I'll still have a chance of getting good accommodation? :s-smilie:

I wanted to put Rootes because I want to be in a social hall, however I am reluctant to consider it as you have to share a toilet. Are they usually dirty? Also do you have to be constantly social?

I live in Jack Martin, but from what I've seen it's just down to luck with Rootes, I'd pray to be put with clean and tidy people, definitely mention it in the little bio you get to write about yourself when you apply for accommodation. Each hall has like a warden who is supposed to make sure everyone sticks to the rules and stuff but the ones in Rootes seem really chill because I've walked past several times in the early hours of the morning and people are having super loud parties whereas if that happened in Jack Martin you'd probably get fined lol. Rootes has so many flats though that I'm sure you would be put with similar people to yourself.

Great advice! My warden in Westwood hasn't charged anyone, but he would if forced.

tbh my warden is great, he seemed more interested in making friends with us all rather than checking that we're behaving ourselves , it's the resident tutor who's a bit more strict about things, but things don't really get too crazy in Jack Martin, although i've already been given a formal warning 🙄
Any suggestions for PhD accommodation? I will apply for postgrad halls but they're v pricey and not guaranteed...slightly worried that they don't tell you until August/September either. Would rather share a house but not sure how to meet people in advance?
Just a quick question, I saw on the uni website that they'v described student residents as first year/final year undergrad on most, if not all of the accommodation halls. So what if you are in your second year? Do you have to find your own private accommodation?

You can see, being an international student how that can be a problem, assuming I don't move into a private accommodation with my "prospective" friends. Hahaha.

Yes indeed. There is Warwick accommodation which provides off campus housing from September until June. I know some who arrange accommodation privately and some who go through Warwick accommodation.
(You can reserve houses through Warwick accommodation in the beginning of December).

Ah, I see! Thank you so much! Good to know there's at least an organisation to help out with the process.
Hello everyone, I'm a current offer holder for warwick, and was wondering if anyone could give me a just a quick summary of all the accomodation
From what I understand rootes is for party
Most en suites are for people who are anti social
Also how does everyone feel about shared bathrooms?
Thanks in advance 😇

Are there access to any pictures of accommodation at Warwick? I was unable to go to see the accommodation at my applicant day and was wondering if I could see pictures of what typical rooms look like in some of the undergraduate halls?
If I firm Warwick I want to put down Rootes bc I do want the 'uni experience' (lol cringe leave me be x) but as a shy person I am afraid of being left out when groups form, so think maybe somewhere in a flat would be better for me, bc I assume ppl just go out and party with their flatmates instead of searching for a friendship group?

Does there tend to be a community feel between Rootes people who share kitchens (like is that just who you automatically hang out with) or is it more of a fend for yourself kind of thing lol

In my experience Rootes is a bit of a lottery as to whether you will get on with members that you share your kitchen with. Sometimes you'll all just click and form a great friendship group, host parties, pre-drinks, go clubbing together etc. however on the other hand there is a possibility that you might just not see everyone enough to form a meaningful relationship and basically just ignore each other for the most part. Might also be quite overwhelming if you are shy being with so many new people.

Also Rootes is not the nicest accommodation. The rooms are nice and big but the bathrooms are grim, also its not uncommon for drunk people to ensure the bathrooms end up in quite a state! Also if you are in Rootes be prepared to be kept up at night because there are parties pretty much all the time! This is obviously better for some than others though.

Flats I quite like. There is no avoiding your flatmates with makes it easier to form friendships in my experience. Also they are cleaner and more private because they are self contained.

Any other questions about any of the accommodations please ask. I'm doing my best to procrastinate

Thanks for your response  I do want to party and go out etc but since I'm not particularly loud/confident I do feel like the after the initial hype I might start to get a bit sick of it, and feel a bit left behind with no solid friendship group:s-smilie: I'm trying to be cooler than I was in the past (lol x) but wouldn't want to make myself seem too outgoing on the 'about me' thing in case I get put with really loud people and they think I'm lame, need to strike a balance somehow!

Think I might put Jack Martin first and Rootes second (I don't really need ensuite so I'm doubtful but the flat layout there looks good, as long as I have a washbasin in my room I'd be fine tbh). Did you stay in Rootes?
Rootes always has a cool party I'm told.
