Also, on a separate note, a word of warning: it is notoriously hard to make friends if you don't do just a bit of drinking/partying. I know people who didn't party at first and they were very lonely, and it was harder to make friends later on because groups had already become defined. You might want to consider trying it, but at the end of the day it's your choice. But when it comes to bonding during freshers' and the first term, pre-drinks, POP, Smack and Neon is where it's at i'm afraid :/

I'm going to visit Warwick as a exchange student this autumn, so I don't have any experience with warwick in particular, but I would expect there to be some people in warwick as in any other place that prefer not to drown their ability to think. They are admittedly quite rare though.
And sure it would probably be easier if you just joined them. But why should you do it the easy way? I mean he said he is going to study law

But I know for sure that I'll stay away from Rootes... I'm thinking Westwood currently - a 10 minute walk isn't killing anyone (I take longer to my current uni), the prices are okay, the supermarket is close, aswell as the math department and it probably doesn't attract the people that want to stay up drunk all night every night. Admittedly I might have gotten the wrong impression from the little time I spent trying to understand the different Halls which is why I am holding off from sending that application already.
Did you see Will from the inbetweeners at your Warwick University open day?

I'll be a postgrad at the business school, and based off the campus map lakeside is relatively close to it, I hope I get lakeside :s-smilie:

Westwood is awesome. But do note that it can be lively on certain nights. Saying that, the wardens are superb and will nip any noise in the bud before it gets too long. It was loud at the start of the year and is becoming so now (exams are ending).

I don't mind staying up late for some nights, socializing is nice in the end - I'm just not into grand scale sleep deprivation which Rootes seems to enjoy from what I got.
The trouble is finding out what other people think of, when they say "some nights" or "certain nights".

Check their site  It depends if you are post or undergrad.

Warwick most expensive accommodation is Benefactors (postgrad) now :O it costs more than Bluebell

I am a postgrad student for the next entry at WMG, I have been told uni accomodation is expensive! anyone has experienced off-campus accomodation or shared house ? any advice please regarding this issue!! thx in advance
Hi guys, I put Arthur Wick as my first choice but now I feel like I rushed it, was this a good choice? I'm very sociable but like to balance my time with work also.

From what i have gathered, Arthur Vick is one of the best halls in the campus, but along with Jack Martin, they are oversubscribed since these are the most popular undergrad choice. So it is a good choice but you need some luck to get it

Since i am a postgrad and will start this year i have not lived in ww so i do not know for sure. To my knowledge though, it is no Rootes for example, but is better than most so i guess you will be fine.

There is an off campus option with houses managed by the university, outside the expensive off campus ones from their private partners. These can be relatively cheaper, you must state your budget for them when you apply in the form .But i think you must call- email them if you want that specific option because if i recall corectly, you cannot put it the preferences.

Thx Berus.
Hi guys,

Deciding between sherbourne, lakeside or heronbank. Anyone know any major differences? Which is the most social?
Does anyone know how big the Sherbourne twin rooms are?

Lakeside/Heronbank are more remote compared to Sherbourne. Also more expensive.
Anyone know how likely it is for postgrads to get accommodation? I applied for the off campus as my top choices, Leamington Spa ideally. Or any tips for finding people to live with as a new PhD student?

I think Warwick has a housing issue
Can't believe I just spent 15 minutes searching for my Warwick ID. Why the hell do they have to go put in on an email back in January :/// I deadass thought it was on that email saying accomodation had opened that i had deleted. Was about to have a heart attack.
