Curious, why do you say that Warwick has a housing issue?

I'm an international postgrad for Behavioural Econs Science and, though the allocation policy states that I've some priority, I'm not excited at waiting until September to find out IF I've been lucky enough to get campus housing. Pre-term starts on 17 Sept, just two days after Warwick says they'll email all of us!

If im a science student will all my lectures, lab work etc be at gibbet hill?
How far are Sherbourne/Lakeside/Heronbank from Gibbet Hill? I feel i should rule them out of my accommodation application as they seem too far.
Im certain JM or AV will be furst choice but after that no clue its between Tocil/Claycroft/Rootes/Redfern/Cryfield.
(Bluebell too expensive/Westwood too far i think)

Help appreciated.
anybody else having trouble using the interactive campus map ? mine just shows up with a green screen

What were your accomodation choices? I heard sometimes you get a reply on late August, not always on September.

There's Benefactors, Lakeside, Heronbank, Claycroft, Tocil too - and then a smattering of private providers. Liberty Park, Downing Students, Study Inn.Warwick Accom's probably overwhelmed, so I'm getting relatively stock replies.
Last year a lot of people had to share rooms or find off campus accomodation.

I know the avaible choices already, i have applied when accommodation opened  You chose benefactors as your 1st choice? Wow, that option is extremely expensive + there are like 20 or so rooms only. Maybe not many have this as their first choice due to its high price. But since you are international you will 95% get your top 2 choices anyway. EU/UK students like me are the ones to worry more for accommodation :sigh:

Anyone know how likely it is for postgrads to get accommodation? I applied for the off campus as my top choices, Leamington Spa ideally. Or any tips for finding people to live with as a new PhD student?

I found a room in a shared house with 3 other Masters and PhD students on Campusboard.co.uk. There were quite a lot of properties available, maybe you can find something.
Try the Warwick facebook freshers group. People are looking for housemates. If no one can find it, PM me.

95% chance sounds good! But they'll only let us know early Sept, and my pre-term (math & stats) starts mid Sept. Will be a hassle if I don't get something... reckon I might just go for off campus.

How is Coventry city centre or Earlsdon?

I read that sometimes you get a reply during late August. Earlsdon is closer to Warwick.
How is Tocil pronounced?

And how is the area like?

What about Liberty Park or the new development in Belgrade Plaza? Are those areas safe?

Liberty park is very safe since it is on Earldson (one of the safest places in Coventry as i know) My top 4 choices were on campus but liberty park was my 5th, and my top for off campus. Sorry, i do not know about Belgrade plazza, i have never been to Warwick university/Coventry, i am also starting my Msc this October :desu:. Have you sorted out your choices yet? You have until the end of July, then you won't have priority :/
New UK Postgrad, due to begin after the summer. I've applied with the following preferences:

1 - Claycroft
2 - Lakeside
3 - Heronbank
4 - Tocil
5 - Liberty Park
6 - Study Inn
7 - City Village

Are the chances of on-campus accommodation really as bad as reading the past couple of pages suggests? There is a sizable gulf between my 3rd preference and the rest...

I applied with City Village as top choice, then got cold feet and asked to change. But... got an offer for City Village today.

Is the city centre really as bad as it's made out to be? Crime rates seem to be really bad there.

Hmm i don't think so. How bad can it be? Coventry ranks as the 4th best student city in the UK, i believe this is for a reason. Since you are outside eu/uk you will almost always get your first choice, how come you did not chose on campus? :O

Depends, if you come from outside eu/uk you will most propably get your first choice. Although i read plenty post of eu/uk postgrads who got one of their top 3 choices. Even from UK. It comes down to luck. How come tocil? I did not chose than because of the small let. I think it doesn't include summer :/ So i put the overpriced benefactors as 4th instead :P

I put it as 4th because I wanted on campus but was not prepared to pay the most expensive on campus stuff. Going home over summer is a bit of hassle in moving stuff but I'm used to it from undergrad where that has always been the way.
