Lol no. They know already. Once you pick up your keys, the person giving them to you (it was my residential tutor) will tick your name and point you in the direction.

Okay, I was kind of excited about lakeside but by what I've read, it's very anti social. Now, I did put that I was quiet and liked my own space but I've changed since then and kind of enjoy going out and actually meeting people. I was going to go to UCL and had my head set on it but changed my mind last minute so I didn't do that much research on accommodation at Warwick when I applied and Lakeside looked nice when I flicked through. I know I should have done my research and I'm stupid for not but is there anyway of changing? Or does someone have any advice on what I should do?

I was already anxious about uni and this has made it a bit worse. Any help is appreciated?
It's rather difficult to change as you need to know someone who is happy to swap with you.Find that person and Warwick will be happy to arrange a swap. If you post about wanting to change as a separate thread I'm sure you'll find someone who got into their 4th or 5th choice willing to swap.

Thank you so much for the reply. I will try that. I love the look of Lakeside and I know I'll like it but being far away from everything and being quite expensive puts me off and if there's international students that are less social I may just find it hard to make friends there. I really wanted to get to know my flatmates well, which maybe I could at Lakeside but by what people are saying it seems like it's more difficult than in other halls. Where would you recommend? I'm going to do economics so I'm pretty much central campus and I kind of either want to share a bathroom between two or have an ensuite for less than £140 a week. I also wanted a 39 week let.

No problem, that's why I am so happy over getting rootes as I can budget perfectly and be in a lively accommodation. Personally, I would recommend rootes; I've seen people on student room and on the app called CAMPUS wanting to swap who've been allocated Rootes who would like being in lakeside due to it having fewer people and ensuites. Rootes has been called the "party accommodation" has plenty of people in a block, is one of the cheaper accommodations (£99 a week), and is probably one of the most central accommodations - however, is not ensuite. I know Rootes's not really what you want, but I have seen people want to swap out of that accommodation.
Others like Sherbourne and Heron bank have ensuites (i think) but they are above your price range. You should look at the link below and compare and contract the accommodations. https://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation/studentaccommodation/undergraduate/ugresidences

Rootes seems okay but it seems very party based. I don't really drink so it might be too lively. I was leaning towards claycroft because it's slightly quieter and close to the shops but I'll check out that app to see where is available and if people want to swap. Thanks for the help, I was just getting scared that Lakeside might be a bit rubbish. At least I have options.
None of the residences are really "rubbish", there is continual investment on a scheduled basis, I don't think even Cryfield or Redfern have their original kitchens.

Arthur Vick 3 has just had a complete electrical and mechanical replacement over the summer, it had new kitchens last year...for example.

But the characteristics are certainly different between dead end segmented flats and buildings such as Lakeside/Heronbank/Rootes where it is just one long corridor no matter where you enter.
't bI just wanted to say good luck to everyone and I hope you move in well. Here are some tips;

1: If you are lucky enough to have your parents take you up, be grateful and spend time with them until they leave. There will be days or nights when you want them more than anything, but they won't be around

2: Say hi to your flatmates and don't get upset if you are not eating ice cream together by 21:00. It may take time

3: If you can, explore campus! Check out the dirty duck

4: Use your life tutor if needed. They have dealt with nervous students so many times and they know how to help

5: If offered, go out for a meal with anyone who asks. Why? You may feel nervous about cooking and may feel anxious. Last year, I spent most of the first weekend in my room and it sucked.
Hey yo so i got Heronbank and i did the whole tesco walk and bought stuff and i literally never want to go through that again (lmfao i thought I'd be fine but its so different when you have shopping in your bag), say i wanted to get delivery how would i go about doing that? Like do the people come all the way up to the residences or what? thanks in advance <3
Warwick's official youtube channel has just uploaded a load of videos for each accommodation, each one is 1-2mins long and shows off the rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and surrounding areas, may be of use to anyone applying this year (myself included )

I think that's when you have a roommate?
Anyone started taking a look at 2018/19 accommodations? Between Whitefields and Redfern which will you guys choose? This is for my later choices in case i don't get my first two ...
As a Warwick student I know some people call Whitefileds, shitefields, so go for Redfern if you can

Twin room is shared, although very few rooms are shared at Wariwck

If you have a shower or shower/bath will depend entirely on the halls you choose. I can't remember know which ones have which

Hi, i want redfern as my 3rd option as well, but i'm worried about the social life as there's still a chance i will get it. Since redfern is only a flat of 5, compared to whitefields 12.
It's nice in freshers to have a bigger kitchen, but actually it will just end up becoming totally gross.... I was good friends with 3 of my 8 flatmates but most people I hang out with I met from my course, other kitchens and sports

Tocil, my halls experience was alright, there were two I fell out with, but that can happen. I think your halls experience is just dumb luck who you get put with, I know for some they've met their best friends, I know others who have great social lives and never mixed with their kitchen. As for me outside of the first week, I spent most of my time with other friends who I didn't live with

Thanks for the advice! Would have gotten tocil as my 3rd if it wasn't a 43 weeks let.. was it your first choice?
