Just out of interest, how often when people hit their grades dead on do they not get their 1st choice accomadation?

Academic success plays absolutely no part in what accomodation you're allocated. They'll just place you based on the online form you fill in, and they don't even decide until after results are released (how could they?), so it won't even matter whether you got in based on Warwick being a firm or insurance choice...

I'm probably just being stupid, but... how do you actually apply for accomodation?! I firmed Warwick a few days ago so I'm not sure if I'm getting something through the post or I'm supposed to use my own initiative and apply online! I went on Warwick's website, found the "apply for accomodation" link and got asked to enter my username and password.. Ach! Do I get this through the post?! Maybe I'm just being impatient :p:

You must've clicked onto the returning undergraduates or something else by mistake, this should work:

ive got rootes, cryfield, then whitefields. hoping to do accouting and finance and realy want rootes (definately new rootes too)! is there a high chance i will get my first choice or is it a complete lottery? cheers

Put Rootes first and there's a very good chance you'll get it.
There are a lot of us.

alrite ne1 know what happens if you get a 30 week let? ie you have to take all your stuff back at the end of each term etc??

And with freshers week, does warwick not actually have one and you have lessons from day one??

Yes, you take all your stuff back at the end of each term. It's not that big a deal, you'd probably take about half your stuff home each term on a longer let anyway and it's scarcely worth spending nearly £1000 more just to avoid the hassle of a bit more packing if everything else is the same to you.

You have a Freshers' Fortnight, but the timetable does begin from the first Monday - which for the first week is almost all admin-related and little work is involved other than finding your way around. It isn't as if you can't get drunk, if that's what you're worried about.

There might have been a pledge to negotiate with other departments of the university about it for the future, but I don't think the SU has the authority to arrange for an exclusive Freshers' week (which would involve either starting accommodation earlier or classes later), only a year in advance.

The main reason noone has any info on Benefactors is simply that nobody on TSR lives in / has lived in / knows anyone from Benefactors. And the main reason for that is it's tiny: there are only 70 people living in there a year.
