Idk if it is really, I've just heard that expression used somewhere. I've only seen it from the outside but it's not very nice, and it's kind of on the side of central campus.. a bit detached. Though it's closer to the open fields which must be a nice view.

I wonder why they made it 39 weeks? I was under the impression that 30 week ones were the nice ones they could lend out to the people who come for conferences during the breaks and central campus 39 week ones (a.k.a Whitefields and Tocil) were the **** ones the university wouldn't want other people to see? :p:

Part of the reason they could afford to offer only 30 week lets was that they could use the accommodation to host conference guests held over the holiday. The number of such conferences at Warwick has declined over the last few years though, meaning that it's become more and more unprofitable to have students only paying the short let period. It's a shame, especially for people from poorer families.

anyone know if it would be possible to apply for only the single rooms at Benefactors? (say you put benefactors up as your first choice only if allocated to a single room. if that's not possible you would like to go to your second choice).

Seem to remember there being an preference for sharing or not sharing on the application form.

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but do you HAVE to put in one ensuite in as one of your choices?
Thanks!
SO EXCITED FOR WARWICK!

I'd assume no, because you can't force someone to chose an en suite

Oh i meant did you have to put in one non ensuite!
Sorry.
WHOLE different question!
You can only put 1 x 30 week ensuite and 1 x 39 week ensuite in your choices. And that's more than you used to get.
I have been following this thread frequently being an international student and going to apply to Warwick as firm for sure. I am indeed very grateful to all of you nice ppl who have been regularly giving some awesome advices to freshers like me.
Now that Rootes becomes more expensive what would be the next best choice for a 30 week accomodation Or does Rootes remain the first choice yet? (Btw I do not mind sharing bathrooms). Is it really a very big hassle to find storage space in case of a 30 week accommodation? ( as I am sure to go back home every break) If no what are the practical sure options available for an international student for storage. ( I am asking you this as I am a pretty laid back person and may find carrying all the baggage way back and forth a big nuisance...lol). How is Clay Croft? Under the circumstances does JM 30 week make a better sense in my case as a first option? ( Value for money wise, as I am sure to be wasting my 9 weeks cost at Rootes or any where else). Which according to you would make a great 30 week choice?
Instead of 30, 39 weeks at Rootes have increased confusion to my already confused mind. Right now I am considering between JM, Rootes, Claycroft, Benefactors and Tocil, for my three choices (order undecided yet). Any help from experienced ppl will be highly appreciated. Sorry for repetation if any.
Cheers & Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you're an undergraduate cuz you looked into Rootes, but Claycroft is just for postgraduates. I think Cryfield is what you're thinking of, I think it's 30 weeks and the cheapest residence on campus.

As for storage, my int'l friends who live in 30 weeks usually stick as much as they can in a locker that you're allowed to leave in the room, as well as find someone with a 39 week that's willing to keep your stuff in their room for a while. I also heard something about a storage room, but I'm not the one to ask about that.
Y'anami!

According to the website, Claycroft is back available to first year undergrads again as well as finalists and postgrads now.

Noooo Y'anami you are a very sweet person. I have been following your feedbacks on this thread and I found all of them very informative. please keep up the good work as ppl like me need to know about the campus from experiences of students like you. Few unintentional goof ups allowed (lol) especially I am fully aware that there have been some modifications made by Warwick accomodation such as Rootes has now become 39 weeks and similarly ClayCroft is now being offerred to UG freshers also.
So anyways.....How about ClayCroft how is it? & more feed back on my earlier post if you have any.
Claycroft is lovely. My friend lived there last year and I stayed there for a while at one point. The kitchen/dining rooms are a nice size and standard, the bathrooms are pretty average, and the bedrooms are a nice size and pretty homely. The buildings themselves are very smart and clean, and somewhat resemble a Travelodge. Overall I'd say Claycroft is the nicest accomodation I've been in at Warwick, and it's in a really good location.

Thanks for your quick response. Can you please also tell me a bit more about ClayCroft location and social scene wise. i.e: is it in close proximity to all the important places and are ppl especially UG social types, how is the student mix (are there many international students etc.) Btw I will be shuttling between three different dept. namely Phil, Politics & Eco. Is the CC accomodation near to these dept?

If you want a international scene then choose Heronbank or Lakeside.
Why do the internationals choose to live in Heronbank and Lakeside, taking up the nice newish accom there? Not that I'd put them down on my app, even if they didn't live there as it's too far away from everything, but still. Do all the Chinese and co love being next to a Lake, or are they just obsessed with being secluded, or too scared to try and integrate?

Hey,Here's a Chinese.I'd like to hang around with people from all countries!!!haha~~~I went to the Open day the other day and people say Lakeside has a pretty good view.Imaging you are going to live there for most time. And you have to go to central campus everyday anyway. Which is the one closest to GYM and WBS?

Perhaps because they generally must be fairly wealthy to study at Warwick as international students, and can therefore afford some of the nicest accommodation?
