Don't come planning to share pots and pans - it may end up this way, but not buying enough for yourself cos you presume it will turn communal isn't a good way to endear yourself to people. You'll have your own drawers and cupboards, albeit with varying degrees of space according to the halls - get your own crockery, cutlery, 2 or 3 saucepans, a frying pan or wok, teatowel, oven gloves, any utensils you take for granted at home that you will actually feasibly use, but without overdoing it.

Thanks very much for the info, Quinion. I can now start to compile my shopping list.

Does anyone have any info on Whitefields???

It's what I wanted :frown: What do you want to know about it? They're basically individual houses, one of the smallest rooms I've heard, 39 week let (don't have to move out during holidays), not en-suite, in the middle of campus and have funny shaped rooms. But yeah, specify what you wanna know lol.

well you pretty much told me all that i needed to know lol
oooh i was quite optimistic about whitefields - but if they have small rooms... :frown:
but then again it was only gonna be my 3rd choice
i really really want arthur vick
What do you do with your things during holidays? If you're staying on a 30 week let I mean. Do they have storage spaces, for example, at Jack Martin? Or do you literally have to take everything back home with you?
You should, in most cases, have a limited amount of lockable storage space in your room and / or in the corridor - not enough for everything, but enough to hold a printer, kitchen pots and pans, some books. If you are an international student on a 30 week let, you'll be able to put as much as you need into a container provided especially for you. Of course, if you have a friend ina 39 week hall, he or she may be willing to let you put some stuff in their room over the holidays, especially if they aren't staying on campus themselves.

Be patient, if they say during April, they mean like.. late April.

This gets asked every 3 days (including on the last page of this thread) - no, nobody knows, because Warwick Accommodation haven't said anything beyond "spring 2009." However, as has been repeated on TSR over and over and it says on the Accommodation site, this isn't like festival tickets going on sale, it is not first-come-first-served, as long as your application is done before July 31st 2009 you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
I have big issues with the cleanliness of other people :frown: Am I gonna cope!?

Depends who you live with.
Hey
I'm currently deciding on my options for the shared bathroom and Claycroft seems like a pretty good option.
It says same sex bathroom between 2 study bedrooms, so basically 2 students right?
However, although I don't have a medical issue, and despite what anyone else says or thinks I NEED an ensuite.
One of the major factors in this is cultural issues, bathroom sharing outside of family is a no-no. If I were to mention this in the little "About Me" section, will Warwick Accomodation be quite understanding or would they just ridicule it???

But I can't pick who I live with :frown: I don't understand human beings who think its acceptable to live and eat in a pig sty, and who are selfish enough to dirty communal areas without cleaning them. If I get given Rootes I'm not sure I can go to uni next year; I can' afford to go en-suite but I won't actually be able to use a bathroom that countless other people have vomitted in after nights out, and that's the impression I've been given of Rootes.

How often are bathrooms cleaned?

And how long do you reckon my bladder can go without emptying?

To be honest, if that's how you feel then I'd avoid Rootes. A 39-week non-ensuite and a 30week ensuite comes to about the same price, so why not just get AV as every kitchen I've been in there has been clean, and while Rootes is the cheapest, if you're going to be like that then why even apply for it? At Tocil, bathrooms are cleaned everyday but I doubt it's like that in en-suite, and the other question's just strange.

If it's cultural I'm sure they'll consider it, and I don't think you'll ever even find out if they ridicule you it's not like they're gonna email you telling you that was a stupid reason :p:.

Not really, because a lot of people don't get en-suite even if they do put it as first, so you'd never really know the reason. Just do it haha, you don't have anything to lose.

I can't find where it says that. It says 'Average of 6 rooms to a toilet and bath/shower' on http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation/studentaccommodation/all/campus/residences/cryfield:confused:
