just out of interest, what accom. did you apply to?

Jack Martin, Whitefields, Tocil and Cryfield in that order
Mine's sent off:
JM
Rootes
Westwood
Tocil

I am a fairly sociable person, however I do like time to study in peace. I prefer going to student bars, but don't mind the occasional club night out. I like tidiness and cleanliness and would much prefer an en suite bathroom as such. I am in to playing poker a lot, and I am also a recreational sailor.

I then put I'd like to be on a corridor with someone I met from TSR who's doing the same course as me.. it said somewhere you can put that you'd like to be with someone. She's done the same.
How long does it take? I really can't be bothered to do it now

I just did mine in fifteen minutes... maybe I'll regret that when I don't get what I want because I didn't proof read my "about me" section and actually wrote that I'm Donald Duck and don't need a bed anyway.

Yea I heard that happens alot. :p:
Rootes
Westwood
Benefactors
Cryfield
Whitefields
(Option six left blank!)

"I would love to be put in sociable halls. Generally in the past my male friends will outnumber my female friends; I just have a masculine sense of humour. I will stay awake to shameful hours but won't make a huge amount of noise about it at everyone else's' expense.

I can be highly disciplined, I have a long attention span and will commit myself to hours of reading if I have enough maltesers. I like to study Maths and Japanese in my spare time, I also love illustration, music and gaming. "

How comes warwick limit you to only being able to view 2 accomodations on the open day?
I didnt go in the end but the programme said only JM and rootes were viewable.

Its much harder trying to make a decision without being to see your options.
I want to put cryfield as my first choice, but reading around im being put off as the rooms might be too small :s-smilie:

Taking large groups of people into accommodation blocks can be very disruptive for the people living there, especially as it is exam season now. Also doing accommodating tours of more buildings would take too long and no doubt be a logistical nightmare. So they take you to the most popular choices just to give an idea of what a typical room/kitchen might be like.
I sent off my application 2 days ago, but I'm now having second thoughts about Rootes. I want a socioable halls, but I also want to get on with my work. I quite like the look of JM, but the only thing I'm worried about is the 30 week let thing. I really don't want to face the hassle of having to move in and out every 10 weeks. Can anyone shed any light on this?

P.S they said I can still make alterations.

I've actually been wondering the same about the 30 week thing, but haven't been able to find many comments about it. Do you have to take literally everything you own with you at holidays? Including kitchen stuff etc? Is there any sort of storage facility on-campus so that you don't have to cart everything home and back again twice a year. I was hoping to apply for one en-suite but they all appear to be 30 week lets and it's putting me (and my parents!) off.

I'm actually finding this whole decision thing really hard! Every day I change my mind about where I like. I like the look of Tocil at the moment and think it'll be my first choice. Whitefields always seems appealing and possibly Cryfields. I liked Jack Martin for en-suite but it doesn't seem to have a common room?

I'm not a really out-going sociable person - I like to go out and get to know people but I'm not a heavy drinker and don't enjoy the clubbing scene particularly. I want to be able to make friends with people and get to know quite a few, but I also want to have a bit of quiet and be able to sleep when I need it. Are any of the ones I've mentioned particularly suitable for what I want?

Who'd have thought this would be so difficult!
you osund like you're suited to arthur vick or lakeside really...what is it about tocil that attracted you?

and yeah from what i know they do have storage facilities but not huge to fit all belongings in...you could always just befreind someone with 39 week let and beg them to hold some stuff

Thanks for the reply!

Hmm...I liked the fact that Tocil is quite central and that the flats aren't too big so I'd get to know everyone in my flat. Also, it's not too expensive and has 39 week lets. Is there a reason I might not like it?

I don't want to be somewhere really quiet. I just don't want to be somewhere really loud either - I'd like a happy medium!
Yer i filled in my application form. I picked:

1) Benefactors. - Sharing
2) Whitefields.
3) Cryfield.

I would of picked rootes as i would like to stay somewhere where it is sociable, but the to much noise and alarms going off al night regurarly just put me off.
If Warwick put you with someone to share, would you know who it is before or would you know the day you go to Warwick?

Just curious, but what made you select sharing?
Does applying as early as possible improve your chances of getting the accommodation you want? Or can i wait till say next weekend before I get around to doing all this?

Also, I heard whitefields is so close to the SU that it's really noisy. Is that true?
And can you choose between old Rootes and new Rootes on the form? I heard that the new Rootes rooms are much nicer.

Its not first come, first served, so Im guessing as long as you apply before the deadline you'll have an equal chance.

You just get the choice of Rootes on the form.

And as to Whitefields, I have no idea! XD
i was planing to go for heronbank
can anyone guide me if its worth it!! i mean its a bit expensive so is the hall really that good???
thanxxx!!!
I also like Heronbank a lot, but I've settled for Jack Martin as my first option, because of the price... Haven't been there, but Heronbank actually sounds (and looks, from what I've seen) great.

As for me, I'm actually having a problem with the ensuite option. It would be a real pain if I didn't get the ensuite option, because I have some nasty allergies and my skin is extremely sensitive. I would have gone for Rootes otherwise.. anywayz, shoud I mention this in the medical information section?

Only mention it if you can get a doctor to support you- which you should be able to if said allergies are indeed severe.

I imagine an unsupported medical claim would be ignored.
