any L100 students that are stuck between Rootes or JM
lol i dont kno which is the better incentive as i need both: the 39 week let compared to the 30, or the ensuite option compared to the sharing
i dont want to do an ensuite that has 39 week let because (although i may be wrong) they are not as "buzzing" lol...what to do
Hey I'm an L100 guy and I chose Rootes as my no 1. I was really hung up on an ensuite last year when I applied but having taken a gap year and visited mates who share at their unis, it isn't a big deal at all.

hi thanks for the reply. how do you feel about the 39 week let - is it what you wanted?
i guess il do rootes as first and jm as second... im just wondering what choice should be my third? (one that they wil preferentially not place me in lol)
I still haven't applied! I can't decide between Rootes and Cryfield for my first choice.. And if I choose Rootes are there any areas I should avoid? Like ground floor or a room next to the kitchen or something?
Hello everyone. I will study in Warwick next year and I plan to bring my electronic drumkit with me. Do you think there's a specific accomodation that I should apply for? Or that I should avoid (ie. very bad soundproof, etc.) The drumkit itself is not very noisy but it still makes a bit of noise.
Thank you for your answer(s).
side-question: are there parking lots in all accomodations? I will go to the UK with my car.

Hello, drummer eh? Good man.
They shouldn't make that much noise especially when you have headphones right? If you're that worried than I'd avoid cryfield. You won't have space to put the kit anywhere and the walls are very thin. I think your issue is space more than sound here. Tocil or lakeside/heronbank/av rooms should have enough space, well better than others. I'm assuming you're undergrad.
With parking, you have to pay a termly/yearly parking fee. It's expensive I warn you. And you won't necessarily get to park near your accommodation. You might have to walk half the campus to get your car.

I will be there as a visiting EU student so I guess I qualify as an "undergraduate". Arthur Vick residence looks good because it's also near the SU. I dunno, Jack Martin looked nice too and the rooms don't seem to be that much smaller. Dunno =| None of the residences have a parking lot? Walking for 30 min each time I wanna take my car sounds like a PITA.
edit: Btw, if someone feels like giving advices to a poor French soul, bear in mind that: -I would like en-suite -I will study business -I'm leaving in March -I'll play e-drums in my room -I'm an internet addict :P -I don't like walking a lot -I'm not at all into clubbing, but I like common rooms to just "chill out", hang out with a small group of friends or w/e -and if I'm motivated enough I will go to the sports center sometimes :P

Hey. From what I understand you can't actually choose a specific area at your accomadation, they just try to mix you up with people they think you will get along with, so you can't really apply for rootes "top floor", or rootes "not next to kitchen". At least that's how I understand the accomadation process. I picked Rootes as my first choice btw!

I've just submited my form and have chosen Rootes to be my first choice. I wrote quite a lot about myself as well cause I want to live with like-minded people

No worries. Erm yes and no. I like the idea that I don't have to move out straight away at the end of term if I don't want to but the extra nine weeks does eat into vital beer money. I think most of the decent accomodation is 39 weeks now anyways.
Sounds like a good selection. I put cryfields because I thought it sounded fairly similar to rootes just a bit smaller and only a little out of the way (not that the distances between everything in warwick are that great anyway). Tocil sounds like a good bet too but is a bit pricier.
