I best really do some sucking up to my resident tutor then as I was hoping my boyfriend would be able to stay at least one maybe two nights during the week. He works in Leamington and it's only a 20 minute car journey to campus rather than the 45 min journey home so it kind of makes sense for him to kip at mine sometimes.

Ooh, Im planning to go home pretty much every weekend anyway. We live together at the moment so going from living with him 24/7 to just seeing him at weekends will be really hard... Argh!

I'm gonna jump on the band-wagon regarding boyfriends...anyone know what we do regarding them coming to stuff at the union etc? Like, are they allowed/ how do we get them tickets/ etc? I think you posted in some other thread about taking your boyfriend to the fresher's ball? Mine will only be coming at weekends but I just wondered if there were any nights/ events when it wasn't really appropriate/ the done thing to bring the boyfriend along? Or am I talking balls as usual!?

Some (most) events are either open to the general public, or "NUS and guests only". For either case, unless things have changed from last year, all you need to do is buy two tickets on your university card (instead of just one for yourself), arrive together, and voila. There may be other ways of doing it, for instance I don't know how the general public get their tickets, but the method I stated is probably the easiest way. You can bring your boyfriend to anything, it's not going to matter imo.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong? :p:

Ahh, we girls do tend to worry about things don't we?! I don't see any boys worrying about taking their girlfriends to events, ha ha!

I'm hoping it won't be too much of a problem - I'm sure plenty of people have been and gone before us who've had partners so we'll just have to go with the flow I imagine. The closer it gets to October, the more and more I'm getting excited! Can't wait!

Fingers crossed we hear about accommodation soon - I've got a good feelign about hearing some time next week!!!

What does that mean? :o:
It doesn't sound positive.
I wouldn't snub you if you were younger - I was just saying because I had a whole lot of confusion with TheTallOne sometime ago.

It seems that most people will be, er, legal, and I won't be. I'm hoping I'll still be able to enjoy myself is what I meant.

Being under 18 on campus shouldn't be that much of an issue - Freshers fortnight will probably use the student card/tickets (Tinchy is open to 14 year olds apparently).

PM me next month and we can meet up - you'll probably find me before polaroid13 or Lady Justice find me

Yeah I heard that, and freshers t-shirts too were in use too. I was a bit concerned that everybody would just leave me sitting in my room while they go out, haha, but it doesn't sound like that'll happen.

If you do, then barricade yourself in the corridor so they can't get back to their rooms or something :p:

But does it change things that I was going to buy a Freshers Passport? Does it affect how we "arrive together" if I go into events on a Freshers Passport ticket and but him a ticket on my uni card? I didn't know if you had to go into a different queue or something with a Freshers Passport. I like to over-complicate things :p:

...and I thought you DIDN'T want to draw attention to yourself! :p:

If I'm in Rootes then I'll assume that there will at most be only one window in the corridor itself and everyone else's room will be locked, except mine. So I need to cover up two windows with say, black spray paint and no one can see in.

I can then live off all the food in the kitchen which people bring in, including dried noodles and UHT milk (should they cut off the water).

I plan to gain my Vitamin D requirement with a sunbed that I shall install in my room.

Yes, potentially if you have a fresher passport and you have bought him a generic ticket you may have to slum it in the non-fasttrack queue. That said, maybe you could blag both of you fast entrance..
Be persuasive
Okay...so I haven't got the accomodation that I wanted.
Is there a procedure for room swaps or something?

Sorry to hear.
Yes, though it usually relies on either finding people to swap with (officially not just agreed between 2 randomers). Or on spaces opening up by people dropping out..

Either way I think you have to wait till you are at uni

Are the offers out now then? What did you get/not get?

How did you find out your accommodation offer? (Email/Post, etc)

I can't help on the room swaps :frown:

Thanks. I'm heartbroken.
I'd specifically wrote that my culture does not allow sharing bathrooms and whatnot outside family out side marriage (okay it really doesn't give a **** but it was worth a shot:p: ) I got Claycroft over AV.
If I remember correctly, it something to do with week 3 and a fee of £30 if successful.
I just got mine like 10mins ago - I've spent those minutes weeping.

Aww. Claycroft's not so bad.
And the bathrooms are very less communal than elsewhere.
It could probably have been worse?

Have you been in there - whats it like?

I haven't read it yet...
'It is not possible to swap your offer to a different hall. We will open a transfer list on our website on the 19th October. All transfers are subject to suitable rooms becoming available.'

Ah. Thanks. That's the 3rd Monday.
Might just have to put up with it.
I mean - who's going to want to swap from ensuite to non-ensuite.
