Given the fact that just about everybody (on TSR at least) seems to want to be in AV and JM, is there any point of putting an ensuite down if it's not your first choice? Because I was toying with the idea of putting Rootes first, then JM, then somewhere else, but am worried that if I did that then JM would effectively be a waste of a choice (considering many people will put it as their first choice and still not end up there).

If you put an ensuite as your second choice then the chances of you getting that are minimal. If you couldn't get into your first choice, you'd most likely end up at your third/fourth choice, or in Westwood. Basically, if you want ensuite, put it as your first choice.

Thanks. I mean, ensuite would be nice, but it's not essential for me, so for that reason I think I'll just put somewhere else instead of JM.

Thanks for your help

Hi!

I was looking at the Warwick accommodation guide and various other pages about it and I can't decided whether to go for AV or JM.

I'm leaning towards AV because it has bigger rooms and is supposedly better furnished but lots of people have said that it's full of really quiet people and has strict wardens? So is it really that bad socially? To quote someone at AV "the people are s**tty".

Thanks for any help
AV is quieter than JM, that's pretty much accepted by anyone. The stereotypes are generally exaggerated though, whilst it might be the quietest accommodation block on campus, you won't get an unsociable corridor unless you're really unlucky. Even then you can explore and meet people in other corridors. I didn't find that the wardens were that strict to be honest.. if you don't annoy them on purpose then there shouldn't be a problem.
Where can I fin updated prices as everything on the accomodation website is still for 09/10 :s-smilie: X

Heronbank accomodation is really lovely but it's quiet as ****. I love my room and all but it has the atmosphere of a library.

I'm leaning more towards JM now, this is a silly question but are the kitchens clean generally? Someone told me JM isn't so clean but tbh the only bit I care is clean is the kitchen.

It depends on how clean the people are :dontknow:. I think all kitchens in all halls get cleaned every morning Monday to Friday (at least they did in AV), but I'm not entirely sure.
hey, i am looking for the cheapest accomodation possible, but at the same time i dont want it to be unbeliveably tiny and totally far away or completely unsociable. I can pay few more pounds a week if that would make some noticeable difference. What's my best shot?
I can see that Cryfields is the chepeast one. What is it like?
Also, 39weeks rent period means that we're paying for the room during the christmas or easter break when generally we're not at the uni but just back home?

This has changed now. Think it is Monday Wednesday Friday.

Needless to say I doubt the prices went down to reflect this saving they made on staffing...

Cryfield is somewhat dingy. It is definitly the cheapest though.

39 week rent includes Christmas and Easter. Theres generally noone who stays first year. Or not many anyway...

SO do go for the 30 week ones as priority if you dont want to spend your holidays at uni. Youll find that even paying £20 more pw works out cheaper paying 9 less weeks!

i want to have 39 weeks - i will be going home. but i don't want to have to take EVERYTHING home with me which will include my dad coming up for christmas and easter as opposed to me taking some clothes home and leaving my room as it is. is that ok to do or whatt?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here :o:

Of course yes, it's up to you what you do with your room for those 39 weeks (within reason). I think you're meant to tell your resident tutor when you're leaving for quite a while, but I'm not sure if it matters at Christmas. I'd be reluctant to leave any valuables though.
