How much does dental treatment cost?

Hiya,

none of the nearby dentists are picking up their phones so I thought I'd ask here. I don't think I'm entitled to free NHS treatment but how muc would it cost me? I know I need 2 small fillings , and the private place I've been to does it for 50-80 quid each (they said 50 each for me since I'm their friends friend). Is it too expensive? I kind of need an urgent reply since I have an appointment at this private dentist as 2 and I'm not sure if I should cancel it.

Thanks

The NHS would charge you £42 for as many fillings as you want. :broken:
So at £100 for 2 fillings, its quite a lot more going private. :s-smilie:

As many as you need surely? :p: I doubt you can just request hundreds of them!

If you are still in education or from a low income family you can apply for free/reduced dental/optican costs, and get money back from fees you've already paid, have you looked into that?

Lol, you only have 30 something teeth. :p: But yeah, you can have as many as you need for £42.40 on the NHS. All the info can be found at:

Wow is it like "pay for one filling get the next 31 for free!" (love the toothless smilie by the way). That's cool. I had my old filling replaced for £50 last week so spending £100 is a bit of a stretch. I'm not in education though and can't claim benefits so I doubt I'll get anything for free! Thanks for your advice

Yup, thats how messed up the new dental contract is at the moment. For £42.50, you get as many fillings as you want, Cleaning of teeth AND as many extractions you want! Anyone is entiteled to the nhs, generally speaking, going private uses better dental materials and make a better jopb of the treatment.

Everyone is entitled to NHS dentistry if they can find it. But thats the problem not everyone can. It would be a lot cheaper on the NHS for 2 fillings that going private.
