Are you sure its not caused by whatever your taking them for? If you think it might be related to taking the penicillin then see your doctor. Reactions to penicillin are fairly common so it is a possibility.

You might be allergic to it. :s-smilie:

I have a chest and throat infection, so i dont think it can be to do with that, and only started when i took the penicillin, after 24 gours anyway. Its the first time ive had it?:s-smilie:

Talk to your doctor. You could be allergic to Penicllin, my mom reacted to it and found out she cannot have cheese as a result (similar chemicals or something). Try an alternative medicine from your doctor if possible, risks are not worth it.

Really? I've never heard of that. I'm allergic to amoxycillin (which is part of the penicillin group) but I've never had any problems with cheese except that it tastes horrible :p:

Syptoms (taken from Http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/penicillin-allergy/DS00620/DSECTION=2):

Common signs and symptoms of penicillin allergy include:

* Rash
* Hives
* Itchy eyes
* Swollen lips, tongue or face (angioedema)

Tell your doctor if you notice any of the signs or symptoms of penicillin allergy. He or she can determine if you're having an allergic reaction and may prescribe an alternative medication.

The most serious allergic reaction to penicillin is an anaphylactic (an-uh-fuh-LAK-tik) response, which can be deadly. Anaphylactic reactions develop immediately after penicillin exposure in highly sensitive people and cause the airways (bronchi) to constrict, making it difficult to breathe. Blood pressure may drop to life-threatening levels, making you feel dizzy or causing you to lose consciousness. Other serious signs and symptoms include:

* Wheezing
* Lightheadedness
* Slurred speech
* Rapid or weak pulse
* Blueness of your skin, including your lips and nail beds
* Diarrhea
* Nausea and vomiting

Seek emergency medical care if you think you or someone else is having an anaphylactic reaction.

I don't know...(apparently I had a reaction as a baby) but if your experiencing anything out of the ordinary (other side effects-bad stomach etc) then it may be related to the amoxycillin. Have a look at the leaflet enclosed with them and see what that says.

You've also gotta remember that if your taking it because your ill then you might feel worse for a while longer before the anti biotics take effect.

I have been on Penicillin for 3 days now, and it is making me feel so weird the only way i can explain it is, you know when you have an alcholic drink and it goes straight to your head? well it feels like that, i constantly feel hot and cold aswell. Is this normal??

It sounds to me that it is the sign of the infection...

It is a chest infection... and feeling light headed and having a fever are the typical signs of infection...

I don't believe it has absoultely anything to do with the penicillin... The typical sign of penicillin allergy is a rash... and you haven't got that...

Agreed!!!

i did laugh to myslef when i read the bit about 'hot and cold'.

I also wonder what kind of doctor prescribed antibiotics.

Because if your chest and throat is THAT bad, what in gods name are you drinking for?

You can't lay off the booze for a week or 2?

The OP hasn't been drinking on antibiotics. They've described how they're feeling as how you feel when you've been drinking :rolleyes:

Ahhhhhhhhh
Sincerest apologies.
Sounds very much like a proper chest infection then. Light headed, hot and cold, no doubt with some aching joints too...

Think this site is turning me into a right cynic. THe number of people saying 'i'm on x antibiotics because i'm ill, can i go out on the lash tonight'... is making me tar everyone with the same brush.

silly me.

you've got to admit it is good entertainment...

someone starts by complaining of "nausea and vomitting"... then some bright spark diagnosis them with appendicitis... then everyone starts posting posts their near death experience with appendicitis and it ends up with the original poster things they are going to die...

(and incase some of you are confused... nausea and vomitting is a side effect of almost all drugs and diseases)

I am on amocycillin for my chest infection and I have one day to go and I can't notice no difference, I have also noticed that I have been more tired since I have been on it.

Penecillin - well, Amoxycillin - ****s me right up. I had it for a week, and it gave me so many headaches etc. I got switched to *something that sounds like a variant of the pill [girl pill]* and not only did the heachaches stop, but the problem I initially had went within days too, something the Amoxicillin had failed to do. It just aint for some people.

The lightheadedness that they are referring to here is due to someone not being able to breathe or their blood pressure being in their boots. If t
