hey going to imperial next year and i know that it is has a good rowing tradition and gives scholarships out. just wondering how good are most of the rowers. i want to start but wont if everyone is amazing

I was briefly part of the club before I went into other things, but the boat club is really really good, one of the best equipped on the Thames I believe. The squads range from Olympic level (quite literally!) to beer boats, so I wouldn't worry about it, depends on how physically fit you are and how much time/training you want to give.

I should also say that the scholarships are for the very serious rowers, i.e. people who have already have or hold ambitions (read: won many trophies and prizes) to row at national level.
Where are the rowing facilities for Imperial and how long does it take to get there?
The rowers at IC are immense, you will not find the 1st 8 anywhere but Putney. They may got to their occasional materials lecture. But yes, if your serious about it the training is hell. I heard from a medic rower who tried IC rowing that its 4 maybe 5 times a day you train.

It is widely regarded that the IC rowing team is the best uni team. Hardly surprising if the 7 of the 1st 8 are Italian nationals and the 8th is GB national.

That's a joke. Fair enough if they were actual Imperial students. No need to import all these internationals for big competitions, what a waste.

I would have thought that they were all Imperial students/staff? They have to be to represent the university...surely?
Yeh they do. Their doing degrees such as materials and "others"

(ie Materials is the degree they offer you if you dont fulfil your offer conditions. Another one of those is microbiology so I've been told.)

It is basically importing world class athletes. Oxford have Joe Roff playing for their Rugby Blues. He is reading PPE but my mates brother has said he has not attended much/any lectures.
