Peer learning is always a good idea and one often suggested to us as teachers so go for it!

Why would you not think it was a good idea OP?

Well I do think it's a good idea really, except that tutors have instilled the fear of God into us about plagiarism, so although we'll never submit the same essay again, if other people have got my work on their computer there's always the possibility it could end up being misused in the future and, I don't know, I'm worried that would get me into trouble somehow. It does seem a bit far fetched now that I write it down... :-p

I can see how you feel protective of your work. Nowt wrong with that. I would be cool with reading over each others paper copies but I would feel a bit weird sharing files. Actually can't put my finger on it but yeah.

There are lots of good examples of postgraduate essays just by googling so I would be reluctant to share my own content with peers before the end of the course post moderation to be honest.

If it's after they have been graded then you wouldn't be able to copy each other's work anyway. I think it's a great idea.

It's good that you're thinking about plagiarism, but you've got nothing to worry about here. Think of it as research from any other published source - if it's used and referenced properly then it's fine, and if someone else decides to use it without referencing they'll be the one in trouble.

That's good to know, thanks Duncan. I am happy to share, and it's not as though my work is star quality and I'm expecting people to want to copy it, I just really don't want anything backfiring on me.
