Not really.

Aww damn it, now I feel less special for our crew beating them by 19 seconds. :frown:
Coxing a bowloader for the first time in two hours. Great!

Got locked out of the boathouse after doing a 10k erg (42:07.6@2:06.4) and had to wait for the first boat to come back.

40 minutes of time wasting by using oars as pikes and scull blades as spears.

What fun!
Yup, bowloaders are fun. Rate 45 (off the wind, down to cruise at 40 ) when you've nothing between you and the view ahead but the coxbox screen and a view of the bow canvas and bowball is great. Plus the guys are a great laugh and I might get to cox them in the City Sprints (side-by-side racing outside the boathouses!) on Sunday. Woo!
Hmmmm...just got back from the CUCBC-LMBC Erg Champs. Would any Trinitarian be able to enlighten me as to how many of 'FaT II' are actually rowing for First and Third in the Second Mays boat?
Looking at the crew list on the FaT website -- most of them: it just happens that one of them is a Blues rugby player(!). None are from the regular first boat, as far as I can tell; five were 2nd VIII for Lents, two were 3rd.
YAY! I won something for the first time EVER!
Head to Head?

I'm quite annoyed about Bedford; for some reason we were entered as S4 rather than Novice and so were against two Oxford (Hertford and Univ) college's first boats, who beat us convincingly by 5 and 6 lengths. So we only got to race twice in total. It was quite useful (I do need to watch my mouth when racing that openly in public, though!) but it would have been nice to have gone agaisnt crews we had a hope of beating. Head to head was good fun and we did reasonably well (Simoco M1, or at least 5/8ths of it) and the CIty Sprints was fun also (Hornets Vet E 8+) where we lost in the final by a length (having crashed (not my fault)) to the Cambridge Veterens boat.

And then the fun of the coxing talk (which was OK but could have been more useful from my PoV) and then a good laugh in the pub afterwards.

A great weekend, but now I've got to go back to revision- bleurch! :frown: :p:

What was happening yesterday? There were loads of kids on the river when I was doing my 2k test.
City Sprints race- a side-by-side sprint race over 400m, starting under Cutter Ferry bridge from stakeboats, and racing until opposite City boathouse. Quite exciting because it's an interesting course to steer!

Side by side on the Cam? That must have been interesting...

Head to Head?

Yep, we won M2 and were third overall (beat FaT by 1s  ).

We were, however, convincingly beaten by King's M1 (ahead of us in Bumps).

GAH! It is May. It is supposed to be sunny. I deliberately didn't row in winter for a reason. I therefore do not appreciate rowing in the rain now.

I lost my heart rate monitor this week!!! It has to have fallen out of my bag somewhere, grrrr...I'm really annoyed I've lost it! At least if I have to buy a replacement they are cheaper over here!
I've been thinking about buying a heart rate monitor. Any advice on brand/model Willa...?
I'm not Willa but get a Suunto, solely on the basis that the PM4s have built-in interfaces (for the coded ones I think). I had to shell out another £30 to get an interface for my Polar HRM.

I didnt know that the PM4's had a suunto interface, but even so, I would still recommend the Polar HRM's. They are by far the best ones around, never had a problem with them (although I can't remember what make my previous one was...it was crap though). The transmitters (T-31) are nice and thin so don't get in the way when erging. And I can cope with wearing a watch.

And yes I have definitely lost my transmitter. Gonna have to fork out over $40 for another one....grrr!

ARGHHH!!!

I just ordered a new polar heart rate transmitter an hour ago, went to do some laundry, and found my transmitter at the bottom of the basket! I called the company and they said the product is already shipping, so i can't get a refund unless I wait for it to arrive and then just send it straight back!

Does anyone want a polar heart rate monitor? I can sell it cheap, £20! (only problem is it's just the transmitter, no receiver!)
www.cambridge.rowing.org.uk, use the buy and sell forum? Or just eBay it?
