They've got the highest placed 2nd/3rd/4th/5th boats, meaning they've got the 2nd/3rd/4th/5th headships. I.e. their 4th boat is the highest placed 4th boat in all of the divisions, giving them the 4th headship.

Oh right. I thought meep meep meant that they were head of all 6 divisions.

One of our subs (I think) did have us sitting almost permanently down to strokeside though, and as a result my back is totally buggered. I just hope it holds up to tomorrow.

*fast forwards 5 years*

*Dr. Helen walks in to see the patient*

"You see, your back. It's completely buggered. Sorry."

Edit:

"And how does this make you feel?"
Yes, bumped Trinity M2 and gave them spoons. Bumped in the gut at a somewhat leisurely 32, at least 3 pips lower than them. That was satisfying!

Edit: It's also the FIRST TIME SINCE 2002 that a Clare second men's boat has gone UP overall!
Up two overall, so were happy, as were the 1982 2nd Mays crew who came down for Boat Club Dinner. The Saturday bump on Peterhouse (under the Railway Bridge!) was amazing.

Well done all!

You mean Tit Hall :p:

We got overbumped by an Emma ringer crew, who got blades, in the pissing rain. I was expecting we would get bumped by Christ's, who were also on for blades, but they went off from station 6 and got hit by the outflow and went straight into the bank. So we carried on, rowed quite well and got bumped just past Grassy. I'm a bit annoyed that we were quite so rubbish, but it was fun and we didn't exactly train hard!

Am really pleased for the Clare men though - it's the first time in ages that the men's boat club have done better than the women. I'm also really pleased that W1 got Downing, though it was amazingly exciting seeing if they would get out of Queens' way first. I was down at the Plough and could hardly see what had happened, had to wait till they rowed past with greenery to work it all out.

And so it's over for another year...

We got blades! A fairly comfortable bump on Magdalene W1 right at grassy - right in front of the crowd. That's the second time in two terms the Peterhouse W1 crew have got blades, which is pretty amazing.

Of course, we did follow that up by a hideously painful (for me) row over at the bottom of the first division. Still.

This is true. Bumping Trinity M2 would have been an achievement!
Tit Hall III are gimps. They managed to block the river in The Gut by pulling in on the inside of grassy and then proceeding to drift into the middle in front of a full speed Corpus II and FaT IV.

They also cheer when they get bumped.
Down 5. Discretionary spoons don't count. Hats off to Eddies (*cough* half the blues boat *cough*), Pembroke (close but nicely done) and FaT (saw that coming).

I assure you that that particular boat was NOT full of ringers! I believe that it contained only ex second and third boat rowers. Just thought I'd avoid any confusion.

Anyways, guess who's just effectively committed themself to a whole year of rowing!!!??

Really? I heard it was ex-M1, but then again we're biased :p:

And you say that you're committed to a year of rowing as if it's a bad thing...
Sigh. I'm a bit disappointed for the Queens' W1, who looked to do rather well after their overbump then bump on the first two days, but got stuck behind Trinity W1 for the last two days. Oh well -- most of the boat are going to be back next year.
Our M1 got spoons. Oops.

If it was an ex M1 ringer boat rowing in W4 division, I'd be very impressed. :p: And Will, don't disillusion us any more than we already are - we know we sucked and it's nice to have some excuse! :frown:

And no, Jim Arnold, discretionary spoons definitely don't count.

Well, I don't know... some M1 rowers can look a bit girly, and W1 rowers quite masculine... :p:

I was refering to Will's Emma M3 boat that we, oh, escaped from and then escaped from Jesus III...

Absolute muppets. Catz W1 denied blades again...
Well, out this evening with Simoco and bullied CULBC who were in the wrong place. Good fun!

Though I missed out on saying "CAMBRIDGE, mind your strokeside blades" because that didn't cross my mind. Oh well, there's always tomorrow...
I didn't miss out on it last night.

"Cambridge, we're coming by!"

And we did!

Best part of my coxing career, I'd say, with the exception of bumping.

wow, it's weird to see how college level rowers perceive university crews. I will miss not rowing with cambridge oars next year, but I've made a commitment to my college, so no going back now. And I guess it is about time I did a michaelmas term as a senior!
I'm hardly representative, though, Will...

As far as I'm concerned, the university crews are the bee's knees in terms of technique and general standards and being able to be on equal terms has given me, and more importantly the crew, a confidence boost. I suppose, too, there's a difference between CULRC and CUBC- the former you can see are students, there'll be people you know and see around, whereas CUBC are off at Ely or with their national squads and you never see them at all.
